secretagentcat – I like the “dog” part!  🙂  And yes every response is a good one and sometimes no response is even better! Dude!

  • Agreed Kent.  We don’t worry or care about the timing at idle.  I time it where I run it.

  • Emma is getting closer to being a great running car.  I got the F11 Emulsion tubes, the air corrector and the main jets in the mail yesterday and am still waiting for the idle jets to get here from the UK (way cheaper from across the pond..).  I was able to get the various jets for around $ 4.00 each and the emulsion tubes for $10 each — all w…[Read more]

Forget those purist guys. The same issue exists in most manufactures. I have rebuilt Studebaker’s and put aftermarket engines in them (Chevies mostly) and the purist will still turn and become somewhat belligerent because you have destroyed the marque with an aftermarket bastardization. Sounds like a personal problem to me. It’s an MG TD no matter…[Read more]

  • If you are really concerned about the oil in your engine being gunky (if it’s not a word, it ought to be), why not plan on a quick 2 changes?  Warm the engine, drain it and  put in some 0-20 and let it idle and run in the driveway (no load) for a while to flush the engine.  Then drain it again and put in your preferred brand.

    Read Paul’s post car…[Read more]

If the hole truly is only a “tad” too big, how ’bout a big washer.  Get some heavy duty aluminum flashing from Lowes, and use an inexpensive hole saw to cut a hole exactly the size of your gauge.  Then using a slightly bigger (two “tads” bigger is good) hole saw, cut again to be left with a large flat washer which could be polished up (you might w…[Read more]

  • Love to have Paul in the convoy but I get it: 9 hours is a lot of seat time, even in the lap of IM luxury.

I think last time Bill and I were a little late for lunch (accident on 301?) and the group dawdled a bit at the table. I’m all for dawdling but the hour or 90 minute delay there cost us an additional 2 hours in traffic because of the usual r…[Read more]

There are a few MG snobs but I’ve seldom run into them. The Porsche snobs are a little thicker on the ground, in my estimation. It is true, though, that some people can’t hide their disappointment when told they’re looking at an ’80s mail-order car and not a 1950s survivor. And others are just a little bit snobby. Or they like to show off their…[Read more]

  • Don’t take this wrong, but how about getting a gauge to fit the hole?

When asked if its a kit I usually tell them it used to be. Once assembled it’s no longer a kit.

This morning, Jack and I had breakfast together, he in his TDr and I in my classic Mini.  A fellow came into the room and asked whose TD it was.  Jack acknowledged that it was his.  “Is it real, or a kit?”  Jack responded it’s a kit.  The guy gave us an Ohhhhhhh!,  in such a voice as to show a definite disappointment.  Then he went on to tell u…[Read more]

  • Working backwards, MapQuest shows just under 3 hours from meeting Shu in Port Royal to the Oceanfront Hotel.

We have 2 hours from Ed’s rendezvous in Linthicum Heights to Port Royal.

That’s just under 2 hours from Denver, PA where we’ve hooked up with Vicenc before. (Vicenc, is this stop OK, or would you prefer using RT.30 and meeting in…[Read more]

    ???   Sorry, not enough information.

  • The suggestion was made last year concerning arrival time in VA Beach. I’m OK with leaving a couple hours earlier, but Paul that makes your departure time really really early. Any thoughts, suggestions, derissions?

John, “Why should I let these people irritate me?”  – my sentiments exactly!  I might just as well have played golf if I really wanted to get angry.

Strangely, I don’t get this vibe from the Air and Auto Show in Virginia Beach, Va.  …and that event is hosted by a large Porsche club.  I’m very interested in seeing how the Porsche club there acc…[Read more]

  • Kent, Great idea.  I was in the process of installing hi-lift rockers a few months ago when my eyes went goofy (double vision) and  I lost interest in the project.  So….I just happen to have a brand new “kit”.  The biggest problem that Jack has is that he is always (as in ALWAYS) working on tweaking something, or improving something, or not. …[Read more]

  • Increasing the squirt on the acc pump helped a lot — now I have just a little hesitation off of idle, which I can compensate for by easing down on the throttle.

So right now, I’ll stick with the Pertronix non-vacuum advance distributor that is in the car.

I ordered an assortment of jets and a set of F11 emulsion tubes.  Let the GAMES…[Read more]
