Of course, I will be there. I will, once again, tow the car out and leave it in the pavilion with the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

May the 14th be with you!
Anyone else want to go to the Carlisle Import Performance show as per Tradition? There’s still a few days to get your showfield pass at 20 percent off the sticker price.
The lady who reserves our hotel rooms has not got back to me with a contract yet but told me we had 10 rooms plus the Hospitality Room as…[Read more]

If MG Magic doesn’t come through consider buying a roll of marine carpet and cutting that to fit. That’s what I did on my car and a decade later I’m still finding new and fun uses for what’s left of the roll.
I also tried to make my own door cards but that didn’t go well so I got a real upholsterer to do them right and to match what the original…[Read more]

My first guess would be MG Magic in Florida.

Dang! Mustang II stock steering parts NLA??
It’s not this?
From the little pics it looks like maybe your shaft is just under an inch in diameter and not the standard 3/4 inch, right? But the tube/housing is 2.5 inches i.d., correct? If so, maybe this is your huckleberry.
Bonus because “race car.”
You know I like to try things and build stuff…[Read more]

Leave the front tires at 20 or a little below. Back ones should be good at about 25.
30 psi is too much and will make it handle poorly and ride like a rock.
Good news re mileage. Sometimes a little tuneup is all you need.

I was unable to find the lower bearing I needed. The old one had disintegrated.
I thought I could adapt something to work in there but there was nothing that matched the ID and OD requirements. I went through all the bearing catalogs I had and even went to a bearing wholesaler who tried and came up empty.
I finally resorted to tak…[Read more]

20-25 is normal. My Spyder with a hotted up 1914 with dual 44 Webers did about 23mpg on average. The TD, when it had the 1600 SP, did a little better than that. Ten is definitely cause for maintenance. If you’re close to five it’s leaking for sure. It’d never run that rich.
I’d start by checking everything per the book. Check and change the oil.…[Read more]

That’s pretty bad for a VW based TD. My 300hp 302 V8 delivers me 10 MPG.

By chance would anyone have a steering column from the Ford Pinto available? Preferably near southeast PA. My lower bearing has disintegrated and is no longer available.

I have a 1982 London Roadster. The top got quite beat up by southern Florida sun and salt-water. I asked around at a few boat shops (coastal Maine), but none would take on the job. That was about 20 years ago so my memory is a bit faded as to the reasons they gave.
I ended up making a new one myself. I ruined a sewing machine and what seemed like…[Read more]

Well if a ready made top is not available, the next best option would be to have one made. A good tri, shop would be able to make one from scratch. check out boat upholsterers.

On Nov 12th, more back-end updates.
As is the world of software, there are always more updates on the way. I expect there to be minimal downtime.
