As I understand it, the problem was due mostly to the use of “positive earth” i.e. positive grounding as opposed to negative grounding. My first car, a 1964 MGBGT that had been converted from positive to negative grounding.I was told that with positive grounding, a series circuit was used. Personally, I like the sound of the engine on my LR.It has a nice throaty rumble.It IS more amplified with the top and wings up. Seems to box in the sound.

I keep my LR in a storage garage about a mile away, and go at least once every week just to check things and start it up. If it’s warm enough ;30+, I’ll take it out for a short one or two mile trip. Thanks for everyone’s input.I too, have been thinking of ways to add shoulder straps. Never could come up with a workable solution.But after reading through all this, I’ve changed my mind. Good Work!I have a question about dashboards. My LR has a fiberglass dash covered by thin veneer. Is that how others are as well, or do some have a full wooden dash?Some day I would like to replace mine, but don’t know if it’s possible.
