Maybe I’m just too accustomed to seeing the 7-inchers on our TD replicas, but those headlights just look WAY too big to me.

Jim: Big thumbs-up on the dash!
Gorgeous! Is that a map light in the center? And just what’s involved in switching the gauge lights to LEDs?

Not too keen on that steering wheel, myself. Other than that, nice-looking ride.

Sorry, Roy, but I’ve never driven in the rain with the windows fitted. In fact, I’ve only been caught in the rain twice, and only one of those times did it come down hard enough to even turn on the wipers (which do work, but seem to have only two speeds: slow, and slower).
As for noise, mine is not an especially quiet ride at any time.

No, Paul, I’m not spoiled. After driving the Lafer around in Houston heat and humidity for a while, though, I do tend to smell that way. 😉
In all seriousness, though, even though the Lafer has tempered glass windows that slide down into the doors, I’ve only had them on maybe four times in the six years I’ve owned the car — and one of those times… -

Or, you could just do what some of us did and buy a Lafer. 🙂

That’s a real beauty, Jonathan. I’d say you owe grandpa a ride, if nothing else.

Thanks, Paul. Now that you point out that thread, I recall posting there some time ago, too. (Having grown up in a military family, I’m all for living by the rules.)

My Lafer came from Brazil without any heat. I guess it doesn’t get cold down there. When I replaced the exhaust I had a heater box added, but there’s only one lever on the floor by the parking brake and all I get is some feeble air through the defrost vents above the dash. Not a major problem, as I usually get by OK with just a knit cap, leather…[Read more]

What grabbed my attention was that reference to a heater that would “melt you out even with the top down.” My Lafer has heat, but it’s mainly just a defroster. No cabin heat to speak of, even in what passes for winter down here.

The seats are gorgeous, as is the gray/tan color scheme. Not sure about that top, though. It seems to be missing a bow or something. And I just can’t get excited about that much dash padding.

I like the matte finish on the Scottsdale car’s dash better than the glossy finish on the one in Tucson. But I know, taste is a personal thing.

Ed: Thanks a truckload!
I’ll have to dig up our old calculator to run those numbers, since my brain doesn’t handle math as well as it did back when LBJ was in office. With luck, I can get it done and try out the adjusted pressures tomorrow before the Southeast Texas sun climbs too high for comfort.

OK, I was all set to bleed some air from my tires when a thought occurred to me: Most of you guys run 165-15s, but my Lafer came with 175R-14s. The owner’s manual doesn’t address tire pressure, but I’m wondering if it would be different for the smaller diameter wheels & tires on my car. ❓
