Ed, that’s downright philosophical.

The “slats” in that grille look very similar to the ones on my Lafer TI. I’ve been thinking of painting them, to make them stand out a bit from the black mock radiator shell. Any suggestions? The car itself is black, with a black top and tan interior. Wheels are alloy, with the centers painted a coppertone gold that matches a very subtle gold…[Read more]

I read a nice article on Shelby and that particular MG not too long ago. If I can remember where I saw it, I’ll pass the link along.

Hmmm. Can’t recall ever seeing a squareback with wire wheels.

My problem with full gauge sets is that they always seem to include one for water temp instead of oil temp, which is what I’d need for the Lafer’s VW engine.

Kent, I’d love to see how that project looks once you’ve finished it. Please post some photos when you can. Are the tach and speedo the same size?

Hey, thanks Derek! I’d had their website bookmarked at one time, but lost it when that old PC cratered.

Wow. I could’ve spent hours drooling over that day’s selections back then, but most likely couldn’t have afforded to buy any of them.

Not that I’m in the market, but for that money I’d want a better-looking top. Steering wheel appears to have been mounted backward and upside-down, and I can’t even look at those wheels. With that cover on the spare — real or not — I wonder how the engine breathes.

The Morgan is unquestionably beautiful, but I still think Bob Ensign’s Contemporary Special, built on a TD frame with pieces of the MG-TF, MGA and MGB incorporated in the design, may be the most gorgeous thing rolling on four wheels in the world. http://assets.hemmings.com/story_image/66720-500-0.jpg?rev=2The full story, and details and photos of…[Read more]

Bill Gould replied to the topic 35 mpg? in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 6 months ago
I get just over 19 mpg around town on mostly two-lane roads with lots of curves and a few traffic lights, and rarely doing more than 45 mph. Even when I get out in the boonies, I stick to county roads and seldom exceed 30-35 mph.

I wonder if someone who makes jewelry could sand-cast a logo, to specs, in pot metal or brass. Or maybe it’s something that could be worked up on a 3-D printer.

Bill Gould replied to the topic MP Lafer? for sale in PA in the forum Running MGTD Kits Cars for Sale 10 years, 7 months ago
I don’t see anything of the Lafer in that. The headlamps are too close to the radiator, the radiator itself is too thick, the doors (at least the one I can see) are hinged at the rear, and the windscreen is mounted wrong; the Lafer’s looks, and is constructed, more like the original TD’s.
Oh, and also, the bonnet is hinged on the wrong side, plus…[Read more] -
