Hmmm. Can’t recall ever seeing a squareback with wire wheels.

My problem with full gauge sets is that they always seem to include one for water temp instead of oil temp, which is what I’d need for the Lafer’s VW engine.

Kent, I’d love to see how that project looks once you’ve finished it. Please post some photos when you can. Are the tach and speedo the same size?

Wow. I could’ve spent hours drooling over that day’s selections back then, but most likely couldn’t have afforded to buy any of them.

Not that I’m in the market, but for that money I’d want a better-looking top. Steering wheel appears to have been mounted backward and upside-down, and I can’t even look at those wheels. With that cover on the spare — real or not — I wonder how the engine breathes.

I get just over 19 mpg around town on mostly two-lane roads with lots of curves and a few traffic lights, and rarely doing more than 45 mph. Even when I get out in the boonies, I stick to county roads and seldom exceed 30-35 mph.

Calories don’t count at Thanksgiving, folks. Go ahead and gobble ’til you wobble.

I wonder if someone who makes jewelry could sand-cast a logo, to specs, in pot metal or brass. Or maybe it’s something that could be worked up on a 3-D printer.

I don’t see anything of the Lafer in that. The headlamps are too close to the radiator, the radiator itself is too thick, the doors (at least the one I can see) are hinged at the rear, and the windscreen is mounted wrong; the Lafer’s looks, and is constructed, more like the original TD’s.
