Have you got a picture of a metric adjustable wrench, living in Canada that adopted the metric system of measurement over 30 years ago, I have yet to source a metric adjustable wrench. Also the farmers in your part of the country must have some pretty tough cattle to be using iron baling wire. Up here they still use sisal or poly string/nets…[Read more]

Are they VDO gauges? If so do they use a plastic ring or two threaded rods and a standoff aluminum bridge bracket for mounting. If the latter as you stated the hole in the dash is of a larger diameter than the bezel (2.2″) so putting some layers of veneer in the dash hole will not allow you to tighten the nuts on rods to sandwich the bezel of…[Read more]

I just venting this morning after yesterday’s experience at the show. Fact is more people were stopping to take pics and look inside the car than either the MGB or MGC I was parked between. So at least the general public recognized something different enough to stop and comment or take pics. That was appreciated after all the work that I have put…[Read more]

Have read about some inferred cases of MG bigotry on our site but had my first personal encounter yesterday. Our town sponsors a Britsh car shown every August which over the last 8 years has grown to attract over 200 vehicles from the 1930’s up to current day models. As they do not have a judging class for replicas I could not register the TDR.…[Read more]

Only challenge encountered returning from Carlisle was that GPS could not find Canada. Changed setting to Buffalo NY and as soon as I crossed the border it reset Strange

Will be removing carb to check on float which I assume as some adjustment screw to change float level. How can one repair the throttle shaft bushings? I don’t have…[Read more]

  • The original builder did a poor job of fitting the splash pan around the engine tin. I used the curvature of tin as a mild and added a number of layers of fibreglass to reduce the size of the gap. I then purchased the following from CIP1 which I was able to slide between the tin and splash pan without removing the as they recommend…[Read more]

Have encountered a problem with Solex Pict 34-3 with throttle bushings leaking fuel. Understand they can be refurbed if I ship to US. CIP1 carries a Euromax which I think is a Empi product which according to my VW mechanic is a poor replacement for the original equipment. He is recommending a Bocar which he claims is as good or better than the OE…[Read more]

  • So in the future when problems as described are encountered the definitive test when a defective condenser is suspected will be called the kentt burnt finger test aka KBF test Others may have used the test but kentt has been the first to document the process. Congrats

  • Kentt
What led you to conclude the the condenser was the cause of the problem? I have encountered identical symptoms as you described and replaced plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, reset the points all to no avail. As points and condenser were less than a year old and had less than 200 kms run time had not considered that it would be failing. Was…[Read more]

  • Has anyone encountered a problem with a defective condenser? If so what were the symptoms that led you to suspect the condenser was failing or defective? Have read that good maintenance practice has been to replace condenser at same time as points are replaced. Suspect this is a preventive recommendation but I am interested in finding out what…[Read more]

  • As it seems people are reporting arriving home without mishap, albeit Bill seems to have been followed by a dark cloud, only challenge I had was misdirection with GPS. Did not realize there was a problem until an hour into the trip and ETA was showing midnight as opposed to late afternoon, an extra 8 hours to the trip. Was able to drive by dead…[Read more]

  • I updated the electrical drawings from a FF and added relays for the headlights, fogs, blower and windshield wiper motor. As there were no hazard/4 way circuit I added it to the drawing. I have sent the drawings to a couple of members. If you can use the drawings let me know and I can send the .pdf fileToller2016-05-14 08:55:02

I found the posting and exchange on suicide door locks a great contribution to the overall safety for all who keep up on the site. All that would be required would be for one of those attending to take pics and…[Read more]

  • Looking for some assistance from someone going to Carlisle. Want to place an order with MgMagic but want to avoid international shipping costs. Was hoping to arrange to have the stuff shipped to US address then pick up package while at the event. If you are looking for an incentive I could offer an adult beverage at the event. If you can help…[Read more]

  • DaleThanks for the offer. Expect to be at hotel between 14:00 and 16:00 on the Friday. Have purchased non judged ticket so if you are not at hotel will go to fairgrounds and find you at the Speedster tent. If that doesn’t work then will have to depend on someone to tell me where to go.
