Don,
I installed the shorter adapter on mine and it really helped. On a side note I cut the turn signal lever off shorter and made a new knob for the end. The wood wheel is a smaller diameter than the stock wheel was and with the wheel closer I kept banging my knuckles on the level when turning. Works great now and look better too.
Thanks again,
Burnie

Don,
Thanks for the post I was just having the same issue and your thread saved me a ton of headache. I just ordered my part and can’t wait to move that steering wheel closer to the dash.
Thanks again,
Burnie -

It is a screw-in access panel from a boat. I used it so I can get to the wiring
for the sending unit on the gas tank and all the miscellaneous bolts and clamps
under the hat without having to unbolt anything -

Thanks, it really made it easy for the welding and painting. I just rolled it right onto my trailer and took it to the sand blaster that way. He thought it was great also.

Take off your air cleaner and set a level across the top of your carburetor pointing from back to front.
The top surface of the carb should be level. That will give your engine the
proper amount of tilt rearward to make sure the oil drains properly out of the
heads and back into the pan. -

Like I said mine was trimmed by the PO and is at 45.5 and way out of square, so it looks like I have plenty left to trim once I get the grill mounted to the side panels

I figure the number will be all over the place, but at least I’ll have a rough idea for starting point.
