Some of you may be or have suffered from dead butt syndrome ( DBS )while driving your car even short distances – so I decided to see if I could keep my rear from falling asleep through the repair of my car seats.
I used a strapping for seats that you can buy at your local upholstery shop and weaved in in the cut out area of the plywood seat frame. I used the original 1/2″ plywood pc under the cushion and replaced the 2×6 material under that w/ 2 pc’s of 3/4″ plywood w/ the center cut out. I snugged up the strapping tight and used a staple gun to hold them in place and put it all together w/ screws so I can remove I pc of ply later to tighten everything up if it over-sags. The material stretches a bit so hold it tight from the start.
A picture helps here so take a look – good luck
It seems to feel a lot better and This Spring I will take a couple of long drives and update.
Dale
