Yesterday i had breakfast with a antique dealer who is a friend of mine. After awhile we started talking cars.He thinks when i go out in my car to shows or dinner or just a ride that we should dress for the occasion.Men should wear dockers, dress shirts, suspenders, and berets.Women should wear poodle skirts and scarfs.Has any one done this and if you did how about a picture

In my personal opinion, I think it nice if the women UNdress for the ride.

Bill, Bill. Bill, what are we going to do with you?

Greg, I’m sure that your antique dealer friend dresses up each time he goes out in his classic car?   No, you say?  He doesn’t even own one?  I thought so!

Doesn’t he know that dockers and poodle skirts clash? Poodle skirts on a woman go with the guy wearing a white T shirt, sleeves rolled up, and blue jeans too long with leg bottoms folded up, but only when driving a 50’s Chevy or a Ford.

As far as what to do with Bill…I’m going to follow him to see if he succeeds in his dress code.

As far as what to wear at car shows, Dan is right!

I believe we have club shirts for special shows.

Speaking personally, I try to dress appropriately for any occasion. Cold weather means a turtleneck over thermal underwear, leather jacket and Snoopy hat with long gloves. That’s good to about 35 degrees with the top down.

Shorts, t-shirt or short sleeve collared shirt in the heat of mid-summer. You guys have mostly seen the crusty-ass hat I wear.

And in the spring and fall, on those perfect, 76-degree sunny days? The khackies, jacket and hand-painted MG TD tie over a crisp dress shirt is the called-for garb. As an alternative to the tie an ascot is optional, but highly recommended. The flat cap to top it off.

Karen usually has a head-wrap scarf a la Jackie-O. Strictly-speaking it’s not “period-correct” but it’ll do. Underneath that, of course, nothing but tattoos.

Did you mean to say that under the scarf there is nothing but tatoos? Except for the scarf that qualifies for my dress code.

When my TD is completed and I’m driving around I will try to wear 50s style attire with a driving cap. Except when coming to work…I’ll have to dress for work those times.

You guys have put waaaay too much thought in what to wear.   I’m like Ed, dress I for the weather, except for the crusty hat, mine is simple flat hat.

I’ve lost every hat I tried to wear. Unless it has a chin strap (Snoopy hat) it’s wind on the scalp.

The late spring before i got my car i went to a british car show in Victor NY near Rochester NY. Lots of mgtd,s were there (no replicas) I was there early and saw all of them drive in.As they came in they were dressed in fifty style clothes one guy who i think was the leader of the pack came in a aviation leather helment with googles and 50,s style leather jacket .The women had hoops to hold back there hair.As each car arrived the people already there would be talking about what so ann so would be wearing. When the leader of the pack showed in his leather helment and goggles they all clapped and cheered him on.When i told these people what i bought they were very interested. They had stories about the cost of parts and fixing them. They said all of my parts i can get at auto zone. I spent the day with them and was invited to come to there outing. This was a very good day with fun people
