I’m considering pulling my engine this winter.Being inexperienced in this I well need help .I know about the wires, throttle cable and all the things that have to be removed or disconnected. Do you lower it or do you raise it and what do you use to do this. If you raise it does the hood have to come off.If you lower it the car has to be raised to get it out. Maybe some would like a vacation this winter to western ny We get very little snow
There is youtube demos but I bought bugme video volume 2 and it is worth it. Although the members will have useful tips having visual is good. Cip1.com has engine dolly as cheap as you can build one.
As usual, Allen’s got it. If you are not familiar with engine rebuild, you really need Muir’s Compleat “How to Keep your Volkswagen alive” as a bare minimum. I also have the bug me video that Mike mentions and it’s a bit pricey but worth it.
It’s good to have a helper when pulling the engine. Be careful to pull it straight back and not bend the transmission pilot or input shaft.
