So my lovely wife got for me a GoPro Hero 3 camera for Christmas, along with an extended battery back and the “auto sports” kit with the suction cup mount so you can stick the thing to the door or windshield whilst performing death-defying TDr stunts.
I’ve wanted one of these for a few years now, ever since I borrowed one from a friend to help make a work-related vid leading up to the first Baltimore Grand Prix. That first version of the Hero was the bomb. But it lacked even a rudimentary view finder. You just mounted it, pointing in the general direction you hoped to capture action, and let the wide-angle lens do the rest. This new version has a wi-fi signal that lets you control it from your smart phone. That means you can see what the camera sees just by looking at your phone. You can then change settings and control the shutter from that too.I just downloaded the app and got it working. Then I watched this orientation vid on the mfg’s site. I think I understand even more of the system’s features now, despite the extreme distraction introduced by the surfing bikini models. Highly recommend it. In fact, I’m probably going to watch it again.:DJanuary 20, 2014 at 8:39 pm #259445Congratulation Ed. You can now video your first burn out once the Subi conversion is complete.

January 21, 2014 at 9:30 am #259451Every time I see one of those cameras, I shake my head in amazement at the quality of the build and the great images. All in a super compact format, a lot smaller than a pack of cigarettes. Incredible.

January 21, 2014 at 12:19 pm #259453That settles it. TOTALLY setting it up in the workshop then.

And, of course, the two-piece bathing suit. I got black and white stripes!January 21, 2014 at 3:15 pm #259459Hope the stripes aren’t horizontal. You’d look like a prisoner that way!
