Before a bit of downpour came to my neck of the woods, I took the trickle charger off Moneypenny’s battery and cranked her up. I pulled the plugs and used my remote start switch to crank the engine over and get the oil to all the internals. With that complete I put the plugs in her and made sure the electrical was properly connected and sat on the crate in the front and turned the key. Heard the fuel solenoid click open, gave the gas pedal two pumps and cranked her over. Took a little prodding but she finally relented and started. I ran her up to 1500, then 2500 and finally up to 3000 RPM to break in and seat the rings. Let her run at 3000 for 30 minutes and then brought her back to 1500 for five minutes and then let her idle. Slight oil leak at the oil pressure sender. Tighten her up and the leak is gone. Let her rest for an hour and went back out and started her normally. I beez one happy camper! 😀

"Drive Happy"May 21, 2018 at 4:05 pm #304993Gotta change the oil and get her seats in and then take the top and tonneau cover to our local “Over the Top” convertible top specialists. I’m going to let them handle the convertible top install and fit the tonneau cover. Almost there!

May 23, 2018 at 7:19 am #305010Thanks guys. Moneypenny gets a break today as its 90% chance of thunderstorms. Its raining right now. But she’s covered nicely and I’ll get back to her tomorrow after my shift at the Robins AFB Museum of Aviation. I volunteer there Tuesdays and Thursdays. Info desk in the AM and afternoons I scoot over to the next hangar and help restore the B-17 if needed. Its fun and it keeps me busy.
