Thanks, Dale! That is helpful. Do you think some metal bar stock applied the same way would do? Seems like it would provide similar rigidity with a lower profile.

Ryan,
I think Crash is like me and a bit handicapped when it comes to posting pics – I never could get it to work.

I agree Schu I’ll be running up Rt. 30 as you can tell Br. racing green is the proper color. signed up for Carlisle today ,also talked to Dan Grant trying to talk him into coming . I will have a bunch of fiberfab stuff for sale soon once I get all the little things sorted out on my new car and luckily they are all small things it was built by…[Read more]

Looks like Ed’s car in green to me. Love the ride height and never thought I would like green but looks great on that car.
Congrats Crash – looking forward to the story but want to see it run/drive. I drive the last hour or so to the hotel in PA on the back roads ( forget that crazy 81) – hope to meet you on the road. See you at Carlisle

I installed two oak 1×1’s full length on either side of the center and used fiberglass mat and epoxied them to the bottom of the hood on mine many years ago. Really helped stiffen up the hood and still doing great.

Thanks, Edward. Very helpful.
Do you think it would make sense to add a little bracing in the back? If so, what would be the best way to do that?

You’re right, re the paint. The more care you take the better it’ll end up looking.
Regarding the hood reinforcement, it depends on the hood. Some of them are a bit floppy, with no reinforcement. Some are floppy with wood spars glassed in underneath. Mine is a little floppy with a metal trim piece bolted through the middle, and some thin metal…[Read more]

I am about at the point of doing this cutting project and talked to a guy in a body shop to pick his brain, but he does not seem to know a lot about these kinds of cars or this kind of fiberglass. I am going to do the job myself, but some of the things he said brought up questions that you all surely jame more expertise on:
— He seems to think i…[Read more]

Thanks. I was just thinking that might work, after all, just not in the way that I was originally imagining it. I’ll give it a try!

How about using a coupling nut?

Anyone have a suggestion on how to mount a moto-meter with a radiator cap onto my noseless grille?
Currently, I have just the moto-meter and the bolt is long enough to go through both the grille shell and the fiberglass underneath. But, when I add the radiator cap into the stack, the bolt is just not quite long enough.
Given the way the bolt is…[Read more]
