My solution is NOT elegant?  You gotta be ****in me!  “Whacking the crap out of it is?  (Not to mention that my cap is almost pretty.)  I’m gonna have to look up “elegant solutions” in my dictionary.  I think that you would need a cap made of silly putty for your method to work.

That Lambo door kit is hilarious–I think they also sell it as a hinge set so you can adapt it to anything. Or–at least–a lot of things. Bill,  Year round?  Really?  Were you living in Pa then?  Although I never drove my TDr (nor my TF-1500) in the snow, I would be afraid of them.  (Note that I do not even drive mine in rain.)  Did you ever put chains on it?  Maybe it’s the salt they put on the roads that gave you that lovely patina?  😉

Never saw a Bronco with Lambo doors before.It had to have been a great time.

I figure roughly 80K on mine. The odometer stopped working at 65K years ago.She was a daily driver for a number of years. Year round.

Dating my wife in High School, she ran a 67 Beetle. The washer fluid item I was aware of.

In two weeks I will have owned my TD 3yrs. I keep a diary of every ride I do, starting mileage, where I went on the ride, even if it’s just to the store and back,  and then ending mileage. At this point I have put 18,400 miles on the TD, and loved every second of it.

The adapter will get the wheel mounted.The turn signal cancellation mechanism should be stock VW stuff. You’ll just reuse what you already have. And of that doesn’t work, I did say “should.” 😉

I’m going to a car show tomorrow also on lake erie, Evengola state park.  Park has a beach, its a very popular place for beach babes .Not much car watching here.

I finally got the trailing arms completely cleaned and painted. Tomorrow I’ll install the ball joints and then clean and paint the front beam and move on to the brake drums and brakes. Photos can be found here:
