Donna
Pay attention to the regulator. To the best of my knowlegde, the new alternators are all internally regulated so your connections will be slightly different. The little blue (I think) wire normally connects to the external voltage regulator and I’m not certain of the hook up. As far as alternators go they are all pretty much the same. EXCEPT… -

I’m still using the air horns that came on her. Had to replace a vaccum line when my grandson found the horn button. He woke EVERYONE in the city. It’s really loud, and we need something to grab the attention of those dumbkofts in mini vans. Like, oh crap, where’s that simi truck at!!

I have a VW horn and a horn from a Harbor Freight dual horn kit. They’re both wired together through a relay and work via the dashboard horn button. They’re pretty loud and got me noticed, for instance, when a dumbkoft in a mini van started backing up toward me while stopped at a red light. The steering wheel horn button on my car does not work.

I’ve had these 3+ years with no chips or flaking and they are plenty loud. Cheaper than most regular horns too.http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Chrome-Dual-Tone-Air-Horns,7650.html?utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=CSEGoogle&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&CAWELAID=1268548080&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CNHav8XImrECFUpeTAodYhsreQ

Had air horns but took them off. Currently using a pair of horns from ’70’s Impala.Back when domestic cars had real horns. Works real well.

I wanted air horns but couldn’t find nice chrome or stainless ones that I could afford. Went to a marine swap meet and found a nice 50 year old stainless air horn for $20. Ended up having to buy a cheap set of plastic horns to get a compressor. I left the old horns in and can switch from one to the other but probably never will. I blow my hor…[Read more]

I agree with Paul too, we do have real cars, but tell that to the idots running the car shows and crusie-ins. There is no catagory around here for replicas. At the British show this year, I think I’m going to registar as a 1989 or newer instead of compeating with all the T’s.

Mine isn’t fake either; its…..unassembled!! I kind of like the horn he has. Torn between one like that or the dual air horns. Leaning towards the daul air horns.newkitman2012-07-14 10:42:45

Bud, Thanks, what I did works and looks good but I think that I prefer your solution and may go to air shocks this winter when I have nothing to play with.

I agree with Paul. I too have a real car. But it does occur to me that since it is widely held that the Daytona MiGi was the first, original TD replica, that all (most) of you guys are driving MiGi replicas. Imitation is the sincerest ……..etc.

Roy,I have a Daytona MIGI, I ran into the same problem with trying to re-index the torsion bars.I looked on Samba for answers, people were installing Monroe MA 803 air shocks. This works fine, I also installed a set of fill valves with air lines one for each shock.I purchased these on EBAY, sorry I can’t find the original Part # for these. I ca…[Read more]

I’ve got a bit of cooler pipe clamped to the carb and a K&N type filter pulling air from the passenger wheel well. That’s working pretty well though it’s not very strong. Before that there was some kind of home-made sheet metal right angle box on the carb, with some expanded metal coming off it which was wrapped with blue foam and zip-tied. That…[Read more]

Thanks Ed,
I’ll have to check that out on the sending unit I purchased one with the tank, might need to return it.Changed the oil today and adjusted the choke and put some screws and washers in the convertable top this afternoon, the original staples holding the top to the board that attaches to the windshield had all pulled out. Seems to run… -

Luck.Let us know how it goes.By the way: fuel gauge sender for your gauge is different from the stock VW. I’m using a stock VW speedo/fuel gauge combo in my car & really like it compared to the Classic Instruments it came with. Here’s some detail on that. You might want to just go with a new sender for your existing fuel gauge, which Classic…[Read more]

Edsnova, Thanks again for the information and the typing out the instructions so they were readable.
After looking thing over I believe I’m going to purchase the 1967 tank since the filler nozzle is already in the correct place, it will need to be shortened but will be in the righht place and the tanks look to be the saame except the nozzle… -

Thanks guy’s for the warn welcome.
Ed, I was about to order an older model tank 1961-67 that would have the filler nozzle on the passengers side near the firewall and figured I would have to shorten he nozzle. That would give me the connection for the gas cap too. I’ll hold off till you find the better information. Thanks. Are the bottoms of the… - Load More
