Hi guys. Hey, I’ve read all of your earlier comments about this Ed had no idea what clearance you might have to remove the spring plate. Regarding the how to do it, I have watched videos, and read my 4 books on VW repair. It doesn’t seem difficult if you can get to it. Clearance is my problem. Regarding the special tool, If I needed one,…[Read more]

Roy,
You can reindex the torsion tube by rotating the tube one spline one way or the other BUT…you need some special tools. Especiall for the Spring Plate. You must use a spring plate tool or you stand an EXCELLENT change of losing your fingers without using the spring plate tool. And I believe you have to remove the body. I redid the ones on my… -

Not a great pic but you get the idea.I’d like to set mine up an inch but same problem: gotta remove (or at least lift up 6-8 inches) the body to do it.Kind of a dicy job even then. The coil-overs work. Dan, Sorry to hear of your medical problems. Just remember ,”it’s not over till it’s over”. Some of us ”healthy” people just may go before you do. The most important thing for all of us is to be ready when our time comes. You are in my prayers .

Dan, sorry to hear that, you’re in all of our thoughts with best wishes for the outcome. You’re going to be in for a long haul at therapy, so hang in there. And we’re with you.I don’t want you to scare people or blame the oral hypoglycemics for causing pancreatic “failure” or pancreatic cancer. There is absolutely no evidence of this, and in fact…[Read more]

The women in my family all have had diabetes. My mom had it and died 9 years ago at the age of 92. She was given insulin (two shots a day) for as long as I can remember. Three years before she died her doctor gave her the option of pills or stay with insulin. She chose to stay with the insulin. I guess she managed to do well with the insulin. Dan…[Read more]

I use 3M Fiberglas Cleaner and Polish from West Marine. But it takes a lot of elbow grease on the hard spots.
