    Nice!

Yep, she’s fine and that’s the main thing. It’ll be interesting to see what the
adjuster says about the car; I’ve never seen one with that much bent in the
‘B’ pillar ever track straight again.

Mrs. T even helped me install spring rubbers in the rear this morning after
we fetched the police report and voila! no more bottoming out. Shocks…[Read more]

  • I think spectating. I believe spectators get in free, or maybe it’s $3 to park. We put our cars in with the Toyotas and Durrangos and freak everyone out. Entering the MG competition is like $20 and I don’t think we stand a chance anyway.

  • So do we get to set with the real guys.

  • There has been nothing caught in either filter.Condenser is new. Have no idea how old the coil is.It will restart sometimes immediately, sometimes it takes a 5 min rest.I have seen air bubbling up into the post pump filter either with the car running or after you shut it off, that’s why I wondered if the pump was getting too much air into it and…[Read more]

  • OK, back on topic:I have buy-in from Greg, Wobby the Magnificent and, possibly, Schu, who has asked for an early dinner since he has some major driving to get there & back. I think we should meet at Winterthur at about 3:30 for a drive about the valley and get to the restaurant by about 4:15. I’ve got what I think is  nice route mapped out–Greg,…[Read more]

  • Have you checked Your lines back to tank, Had a very similar prblem would run fine for a few miles and then stall if I let it sit for a while I could get a few more miles it was a load of st in the tank that continually clogged lines.

  • Just thinking here, but could this be an electrical problem rather than a fuel problem? Maybe as some componet heats up from engine heat it stops working. Does it have an old coil or condenser? Or an electronic distributor modual. Does it restart after a five or ten minute cool down? Im not saying its electrical over fuel, but anything is…[Read more]

    Thankfully, your wife is OK!
The other car stuff takes a back seat to that!

  • The whole engine was totally rebuilt, the Solex 34 PICT carb was cleaned thoroughly and what was plugging up the jet after a ride was a 1/2mm x1/8″ piece of either black plastic or rubber. It had to come either from inside the fuel lines, rubber surrounded by braid, also new, or the fuel pump, also new. I don’t know how old the lines were,…[Read more]

Thanks fellows. I had misunderstood about the tunnel issue and thought
it just hampered removal of the entire trans. I see now it’s a bigger chunk
of work to just replace the tans mount. Not impossible, just more to do.
The link to PinkMGs pix is very valuable, I had not found that thread
before. I might just ponder cutting the mount away and…[Read more]

  • mrlmd;
by chance are you running a blended fuel(10% ethenol/alchohol) this stuff causes big broblems in the fuel system in a vehical that is not driven regulary.I had this problem last year, long story but a carb rebuils solved the problem as most of the gaskets inside the carb were eaten away. You may have to bite the bullet and run 100% gas.
    And…[Read more]

Not bad for a VW TD owner, eh?

Paul, Thanks for the link to Mark’s BCW trans and other stuff . I thought I had read everything about what’s now my pride and joy but had missed that one. I had tried to explain the clearence issue to OldRoadie but this is much easier to follow since Mark actually did the disassembly and redesigning of the trans mounting plate. Oldroadie…
I have no idea if this will help or hurt…but Pink MG had issues with the transmission mount in a Chevette powered BCW.
Mark believes BCW built running chassis, then bonded the bodies to the chassis, forever sealing in the engine and trans! There is no clearance above the transmission.
Your diificulties raising the trans high…[Read more]

Okay, so she’s up on jack stands in the rear, front wheels chocked and I’ve
got the nut and big washer off. You can plainly see the mount is torn when
the floor jack starts to lift the trans. I can’t seem to get the tans up high
enough to clear the trans bolt. Still no Chevette manual so I’m just going on
past limited experience…does this mean…[Read more]

  • I have been having this ridiculous problem with my car that is unpredictable, where I may ride for a mile or 5 miles or 20 miles and it stalls just like it runs out of gas. There are no more pieces of black rubber or plastic threads plugging up my main jet, nothing appearing in the fuel filter between the mechanical VW pump and the carb, but I’m…[Read more]
