Has anyone heard from Pink MG? I haven’t seen anything on the forum lately . I know his retirement is near and lots of other things going on but I remember seeing on the news that Monmouth County was having problems from the storm.

I believe all the Schweppes cars were the same color combo.Larry…I went through the registry. And it looked like you were right! All our BCWs have tan tops and interiors…except one. Neil Flaherty’s (Profile57) BCW has a black top.

I like tan. When the time came to redo my Lafer’s interior, my wife picked out a butterscotch leatherlike vinyl that really sets off the black exterior. Couldn’t be happier. Went with a black top, though.

Hey Mark, ditto what Larry said re Moss’s TD interior kit. The guy who tried it gave me the stuff left over from his kit after he did the seats–which worked fine, he said. The door panels would not work in his or mine. They were just a bit too large in some dimensions and too small in others. Heart breaking, really, as it’s a very fine kit. The…[Read more]

Bill, I can’t say for sure, but all the ones that I have seen with the Schweppes badges were yellow with tan tops. Come to think of it ,every BCW that I can remember had a tan top and interior.

Hi Mark, Your signature says MGTD VW. I don’t think a Moss interior upholstry kit will fit your car.One of our members tried to use a Moss kit in his British Coach Works car and was only able to use the seat cover part of the kit. Most replicas use carpet material on the side panels and the area behind the seats and vinyl material on the seats…[Read more]

Hey, those both look very nice! Were all 50 of them the same color?

Well I just got white, marine grade vinyl today. Took the door panel leather/vinyl to Hancock Fabric and matched the color perfectly. Bought 3 yards from a 52 inch wide roll. That’ll do the front firewall, the two sides (front to back), a shift boot, and perhaps behind the seat back. May just stay with black carpet on the seat back. Oh…[Read more]

Havn’t done mine yet. You should be able to handle it as its stretching fabric over foam and stapling it to wood. Be patient, go slowly, and before you know it, you’ll be done and feel fantastic that you did it. And remember…this IS a (and I hate this phrase) kit car.

The downside to a boat tank is that they have no impact or penetration resistance. Not good in an accident, or when the lawyers learn that you didn’t have a tank designed for a car, assuming that you survived the blaze. -

Back when I built my trike I used a 10-12 gallon plastic boat fuel tank.I think it cost around $25 back then I think they run around $35-$40 now. Most fleet farm or farm and fleet, depending on your location. have them,or a boat dealer.

There are a number of sources of replacement tanks in the hot rod and replica markets. They can build a custom tank for big bucks or you can select from their selection of stock tanks. this manufacturer has a number of 11 gallon tanks in aluminum and steel that measure 12 x 12 x 18.
This one costs…[Read more] -

Hi Rick,
The following comments apply to a VW based Duchess
I doubt very much you will find a tank.
It mounted on the floor pan in front of the passenger. It’s approximately 12 inches deep, parallels the center tube, front and back at right angles and the outer side (right side) is angled to match the shape of the outer pan.
Filler tube enters…[Read more] -

I’m happy with my Lafer and not really in the market for another project, but could someone tell me what a “Schweppes car” is?

My best friend lives in Andover, NJ, and apart from a spot of what he called “seepage” in the basement, he and his wife got through it OK. Haven’t heard anything yet from Aaron White in Lake Lure, NC. Fingers crossed.
