I had a PV-544 sedan back in the 60’s. Got my racing start in it. A truly bullet proof engine, Looked like a transistorized 48 Ford seddan.

So my parts came in–new springs all-round, new rear shoes–and I pulled off the front wheels to see what was what.Passenger side adjuster was broken. There’s this little sheet metal springy thing that lays over the star wheels, apparently to keep them from turning on their own once you adjust them?Yeah, that thing. It was broken off. I found it…[Read more]

Mark,
Mel (LuvmyTD) loves in the Villages in Florida. He’s a member of a club. And there are at least two others that live in the Orlando area who may give you a couple of leads on clubs. -

The B-18b was also installed in the PV544-B18 Sport and the 122S. Both were early 4 seat sports sedans and surprised many a pure sports car of the era.

Motor was from a Volvo P-1800. It was called the B-18b and it had twin SUs like the xpag, but made 100 horsepower stock and there was a lot more in it. Plus you could get an overdrive transmission. Very smart and very common early ’60s swap to liven up by-then obsolete TDs, though it’s not much seen today–and it makes the MG purists crazy with contempt.

Buttoned down in Baltimore. Plants are mostly in the screen porch. Pulled up a pool-sized tarp I was using to kill everything growing on our backyard hill, so it wouldn’t blow away. Brought in the gas grills.Got the boat battery on trickle charge in case I need it for the sump pump backup. With the daily drivers and Bridget that’ll make five…[Read more]

As a veteran of countless hurricanes and tropical storms since 1960 here in Houston, my sincere best wishes are with all of you who either live in or have loved ones along the Eastern Seaboard. If you’ve never gone through a hurricane, you have no idea how truly terrifying they can be. And the cleanup afterward can be dangerous, too. While…[Read more]

Wheels look to be Nissan 4-bolt 15 x 6. I bought one from a junk yard last year to think about it, and it looks just about like those. Pretty close to a TD wheel, eh?

I wouldn’t mind that kind of power but I wish the side engine cut outs were covered up for a cleaner line.

Wish it was closer, my brother has been wanting to put a V8 in mine ever since I bought it. He wants to build a street rod type TD.
I did find a turbo T-bird locally, only $800, but not sure why I need that much more power. I guess if my engine ever goes belly up I’d think more seriously about it. -

I’m not sure if my girlfriend lives in a mandatory evacuation area, but I would think so. She’s only a few miles from Coney Island in Brooklyn. Her daughter lives in Hoboken, NJ, very close to the water. They’ve gone inland into New Jersey for a few days, ahead of the mandatory evacuation and transportation shut down. I’m sure they’re going to…[Read more]

Dennis, we’ve been in Bardstown several times, usually on our way to TN (sisters & mom live in Nashville) or FL (vacation). If memory is correct, MY Old KY Home is there and one of my favorite adult beverage museums is close. We’ve never taken a trip yet in the TD, Cincinnati has been the furthest so far. At 6’1″ 210# there is alot of…[Read more]

Paul,
Let’s hope that the oaks stay away from the garage your TD lives in.

Thanks Mark.My daughter and her mother (aka “future ex”) are just north of I-78 in NJ. Latest national weather service data says they should be seeing sustained winds between 40 and 75 mph. And about a foot of rain in a 12 to 18 hour period. My old house is surrounded by beautiful, old, TALL, oak trees. Hopefully they stay standing!I’m a bit…[Read more]

I’ll help derail this thread. I was in Louisville last summer (June 2010). All that greenery was beautiful. I didn’t have my car back then, but maybe I’ll get a chance to make a road trip again.
