Looking back on it now, it’s sad to read Don’s posts, which are so enthusiastic and to see the support he was receiving from owners of Classic Roadsters cars.
Near as I can tell, CR II delivered its last Cobra kit in December of 2007 and spent 2008 trying to sell the company and its assets. In fact, at one point, the entire company was listed fo…[Read more] -

MG Magic had them ”on sale” a few months ago but I cannot find them on their parts list now. I think they were $88.00 then. Might be worth a call to find out.

Thanks Paul, I was hoping that I was not too far off. The kit car industry changed so much and so fast that it is hard to keep the facts seperate from the rumors.

I’ll add to that only about my CMC TD which have no data plates anywhere. The only thing that even indicates it has anything to do with Fiberfab is the assembly manual (which is way different than fiberfab’s manual) and the FF grill logo which I have switched to the MG logo. I think, but I’m not sure that the spare tire mounting setup is also different.

Nice find.
Studebaker used the same company that molded the early Corvette bodies and had the same problems. The body parts warped because they were pulled from the molds before they were completely cured. It cost them the first year’s production. Once they figured out how long it took there were few fit problems. The TD kit manufacturers may…[Read more] -

Allen, The back bar should reach almost the length of the bumper ,from outer bolt hole to outer bolt hole.

newkitman replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 7 months ago
Thanks Larry. I’ll have to see if there are any more metal pieces in the kit. I unwrapped the bumpers this evening to check the condition and they are ok on the outer side and some minor corrosion on the inner side. I had hoped there was another piece of metal with each bumper but no joy. Any idea how long they are? I’m guessing somewhere in the…[Read more]

Larry Murphy replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 7 months ago
Allen, The MG bumpers are not very strudy. The back bar is a flat piece about 3/8” thick and 1 and 1/2 ” wide that fits out of sight behind the bumper to make the assembly much stronger.. It is needed on both the VW based cars as well as the front engined cars. You don’t absolutely have to use one ,but the bumper is mostly for looks wi…[Read more]

I agree with Ed.If you could pick it up for around $5500 I dont think it would be a bad deal. I like the British racing green and the interior looks great. I think its a CMC myself. I have been confused on the difference between a CMC and Fiberfab. The Fiberfabs used the vw turn signals and tail lights and called their TD replicas MIGI? I have…[Read more]
