OK, back real quick, it’s all fixed. A switched hot lead goes to the indicator bulb and the D+ wire from the alternator to the other lead on the bulb. The light goes on with the key in the Accessory or On position, goes off after the engine starts indicating that the alternator is charging the battery. The alternator puts out 14 V (battery was…[Read more]

Thanks. I wished my car looked anything as orderly as that, but it is just as confusing to trace wires. I also don’t know for sure what year my engine is, all I know it’s probably mid 70’s. I don’t have a separate voltage regulator, it’s integral in the alternator. The best help from on there was looking at a Baja Bug wiring, which is probably much…[Read more]

What year VW is your system?
Go to http://www.thesamba.com and click on the Technical Tab (top right) and select wiring. You’ll get a list of color wiring diagrams. Pick Type 1 and scroll through till you find your year. In the diagram you will see a blue and white wire run from the voltage regulator to the light in the speedometer for the Alternator. F…[Read more] -

This is what a racing TD would have looked like had MG continued to build them, right?
Where’s the TD.com grill badge? -

Many years ago a friend of mine and I started racing btogether. We raced anything , Motorcycles, Snow machines, Pick-ups, Go-carts. anything. We realized at some point that the way to prosper in this endeavor was th build and reepair, Not race. We started a little shop and built a couple frames, all while we did our normal jobs. We hired a mnger…[Read more]

Amazon carries a 1:18 scale 1947 MG TC model by Yat Ming for $29.95.
Mine is BRG. Google “yat ming mg” and you will find in in other colors from different vendors.

Whoa! I just looked through that eBay seller’s store listings, and some of those toy cars cost almost as much as my first ride — the ’62 Mk II Sprite my dad found for me in a dentist’s barn outside Shiner, Texas.

I just gave your “mirthful hyjinx” a read, and have to say that my hat — if I were wearing one — would be off to you. Something like that might have made me lose my religion.

Ed the 68 Camero was easy even with half a car(no wing vents couldnt be a 67). Now the other is more of a challenge. At 1st I thought 67 Fairlane, but im going with 66 Chevy II .

Got mine from Cip1. Yeah, plastic! Metal ones are like $15. Damn if they don’t work fine. The hard job was doing the shifter bushing. Mine had been eliminated by the PO or his mechanic. Much mirthful hyjinx ensued. But once that was done, I went back and snapped the quick-shift kit on in nothing flat. Highly recommended–but after you make sure…[Read more]

Mike, upper right corner of the TJ shot shows a copy of my old ride. There’s enough there that you can get it, year make and model, if you’re good.
