IRS is Independant Rear Suspension. It makes certain that the tires are flat on the road and not leaning to one side does top the crown or bank of the road. At least that’s how I remeber it being explained. I had a cool picture that shows the difference between how the rear tires contact the road with a swing axle transmission compared to the IRS.…[Read more]

Look in the Manuacturer Comparisonsubject in the My Project tab of the forum. It lists the differences of the kits and includes pictures. You can also look at the Photo Gallery at the top of the page. And if you do have a Migi, you can download the Migi manual from the Download Manuals tab on the left. Welcome aboard and enjoy your TD. Duplicolor makes a truck bed coating in both rattle can and roll on. I have used both. The rattle can has almost a smooth texture but the roll on comes with a roller that leaves a rough surface. It’s basically paint with urethane solids mixed in. Gives a little rubbery protective barrier that can aid in repelling rocks or gravel impacts. I’ve used…[Read more]

Thank you for your input. It does have a metal crafter’s chassis. How do I find out what to buy, or do I have to pull one out to see ? Has anyone pulled the rear shock out ? What all is involved ? Can’t hardly see the top of the rear shock to see how it is mounted. Don’t have any equipment to get it in the air.

I am definitely a novice at this, how do I know what kind of car I have? I know the kit was manufactured by Fiberfab. What is the difference between a MGTD and a MIGI? I was told the car was a 52 replica MG. I am sure I will need to know this when trying to get parts. So far it’s been fun, man you really get some looks when you drive these little cars.

Look in the MP Lafer section. Paul has a link to some pictures there.

Is that a typo, or what is an MG TI? My Google search was fruitless.I would love to see some photos of it.

I’ve purchased several parts from them when they were in Florida. They have since sold and relocated the company to San Diego. A bit pricey but worth the cost. Parts are great as well. At least in my experience. I have an email to them asking about a couple of parts. Hopefully they will respond as quickly ans when they were in FL.

Hey Dick, I’m not trying to contradict Paul’s advice, but if I remember correctly, your London Roadster is one of the rare ones using the VW engine and transaxle but built on a custom chassis with coilover shocks on all four wheels. If that’s the setup, the shocks may not be typical VW type and you would need to replace them with shocks designed…[Read more]

Dick,
I believe the common wisdom is that standard VW shocks will work best for VW based TD Replica.
Coil-overs will only add stiffness to the suspention where you don’t need it!PMOSSBERG40749.5417824074 -

I just checked my tires on my Roadster and the newest they can be in 1994. Just got my new one’s from tirebuyer.com this morning.
Always check the DOT code. Could have got hurt.
New code is 1411. -

I ordered a product of the internet used to coat the inside of pick truck beds,
its called “Grizzly Grip” . I liked it because you can brush or roller it it on
and as it dries in expands a little bit and creates a texture that covers the
brush and rollers marks. I ended up coating all the front trunk area and
passenger area after bolting down…[Read more] -
