Larry Murphy replied to the topic What type of tow bar? in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 3 months ago
Unless your London Roadster is one of the rare ones on a custom chassis with coil springs over the shock absorbers, a tow bar for the standard VW beetle should work. The super beetle has strut suspension and requires a different tow bar to hook up.

Larry Murphy replied to the topic VW Freeway Flyer in the forum TD Replicas 14 years, 3 months ago
My understanding is that the freeway flyer transaxle is found in the super beetle and is geared higher than the reg. beetle.I have a friend who made the swap and is happy with it. PinkMG [Mark] had one in the TD he sold to Bill Collins.

OK top is holding so far. I used a metal bar from cyclone fence as well as adjusting the top.

Welcome, Paul. Heard those Victor TFs were hot stuff.I’ve been seeing a nice selection of TD body parts floating across the ‘bay lately. Lot of front wings and some rears too. Full tubs once in a while. My opinion (you might know better) The late TD and TF are indistinguishable from the rear. I’d make a box trailer with a leaf axle and hang the…[Read more]

CMC bought out FiberFab according to my info, so the cars are very much alike, the tops appear to be the same.
BCW did make a front engine model, it uses Chevette mechanicals on a custom built chassis.I am blessed to own one of them. -

GF,
very nice – love the patina on the seats etc.
I think Richard Woobly ( CTDG ) has one of those and I am sure others.
Wish mine was like that before I bought my basket case – oh well it was
fun doing the resto w/ my son.

Car looks great. For front end fixes, do a search here on “adjustable beam.”

Larry,
The gallery pictures rarely identify the source of the kit in the pictures. Most of the old members know the visual cues that differentiate the cars. I don’t. That’s what I’m trying to learn here.
Your comment about CMC tops is good to know. Did fiberfab use the same top?
Did BCW manufacture a front engine model?

He was used as a CI then they had evidence. At least enough to make a charge. Guess his info was more valuble to them. Glad no one was hurt! Like the story!

I agree that parts availability is a good thing, you never know when you may need some. The CMC diminsions are relatively close to the original MG but fitting a folding windshield will require trimming the molded in mounts off the cowl even if the measurments do check out.The folding windshield option was used when racing the MG to reduce wind…[Read more]

MG Magic sells parts for CMC and Fiberfab replicas. Parts support is a good thing.
How do their dimensions compare to the originals? i.e. for things like a folding windshield. How does their build quality compare to BMC? -

We were on vacation. The car was easily fixed. The neighbors on the other side of that fence had a little boy, about five or six. I shudder to think what might have happened if he was playing outside. We “know” who did it, the son of our neighbors. Known drug addict, and a the police used him as an informer. They were never going to do anything to…[Read more]

Dan R has the answer here.My original Classic Roadsters top, with the kit in 1982, used a piece of flat aluminum stock. I never had a problem.Around 1989 I had to replace the roof. The replacement from Classic Roadsters used a flexible material, not sure what it is. But it did not hold the roof in the channel at speed.I replaced it with the…[Read more]

The plexi came with the top but my feeling is that its too flimsy. I will try the aluminum though. I just finished adjusting the top and now I have to move the screw snaps. I’m going to be filling hole forever. I will drive it tomorrow and see what happens.

I used aluminum bar stock , bought at Lows and it slips in the slot and the top pocket and has never come out ,easy to insert and remove
it will never break and will not bent when trying to insert. Dan R
