I think my write up should be something like: Geoff is a scholar and a saint, a true inspiration to us all. His contributions to the group and his knack for informative yet morale boosting comments truly set tdreplica.com apart from other online car clubs. Or do you think I should stick to info about the car?
Probably the latter I guess…[Read more]

Also, not only do they do a great job on the glare, but they sure cut the wind-burn down a notch too! I think they look great on the car, just make sure the positioning won’t interfere with your soft top.

Parking lot reminds me of Dayton College parking lot. But that was years ago when I lived in Cincinnati. And definitely get him some cool shades. He’s gotta look like grandpa.

Good luck. Remember too, engines are plentiful and easy to get or build. And transaxles are $600 for the stock ones, rebuilt.

Allen,
You got me there, we were both pretty happy that day. Weather was great. This year I’ll put in a booster seat for him and get him out of the parking lot. That lot is huge, but can only get up to about 10mph. Gotta get him some shades too. -

I got a great heater and even A/C, but the heat only warms about the lower half. Still got the wind, lots of wind. I only use the top in case of rain.

After some more thought and your comments I can see its best to stick with LH drive. Main reason is way to much fabrication effort moving the battery box and gas tank housing to the other side. That’s way more than I want to handle. So the chassis search continues. The one LH I found didn’t have the engine. I’ll keep hunting and find a decent…[Read more]

Mel, Check Geoff104,s gallery. He has visors and I think his windshield frame is like yours. Be VERY careful when drilling the mounting holes!!! DO NOT let the drill bit go in too far and contact the glass. It would be best to use a very short bit that was only long enough to reach thru the frame but not long enough to reach the glass.

I second the above Allen.
Most kits were designed for a left hand drive chassis. The differences would create enormous challenges to mounting a left hand kit on a right hand chassis.
Adding to what Larry and Ed wrote, chances are you would also haveto fabricate a firewall. And obviously your dash would have to be hand made.
Bottom line to m…[Read more] -

I’d go with left hand drive just for driving ease. (Just try passing a farm tractor or something with the steering wheel on the right). You may also run into trouble with the steering box cover on your kit, which expects the gear to be on the left and so is relieved for it. I expect you’d have to make a new one to fit the right if you go with your…[Read more]

Allen, Here are my thoughts and I hope they will be of help to you.
Yes the TD was a right hand drive car but they were designed in a country where they drive on the ”wrong” side of the road. I think it would be awkward here in the USA.I get a funny feeling when I see a mail carrier in a right hand drive vehicle even tho I know it is easier f…[Read more] -

Montie,
Looking at the picture, I’m not sure who’s grinning more…you or your grandson. Teach him well and reward him as you go with rides. The car’s legacy and yours will live on forever. -

Geez…up there in the north and you don’t have heaters in your cars? What’s up with that? If mine was built I’d drive if as much as possible. And with the heater on if necessary. But that’s me…a former Massachusetts guy. (The good part…western mass.)
