Bill,I have a CMC FiberFab kit and my top is a two bow top. The side curtains/panels have a flap just above the top edge of the door that you can put you hand through and snap the sides down.

Hi Gang, I attach my side curtains using a snap on each top bow just under the edge of the top.Between the front bow and the windshield, I use velcro. The front edge of the curtain is held against the windshield frame by two short straps that slip in between the windshield frame and the wind wing.I replaced the knurled nut on the lower windwing…[Read more]

The side curtains on original TDs (and the Allisons) have a metal frame which allows yout to have the top down with sidescreens up. Pretty slick! Then again, getting that mess to work right can be a real chore, as this thread in one of the TD forums shows. (This is a great resource for anyone interested in trying to make a replicar more authentic…[Read more]

Bill,My side curtains have a flap door that allows you to reach out and snap it tight from inside. Then zip up the flap door on the inside. You can see the flap in this photo. The entire thing is awkward, but does work when you do need the side curtains. Usually we keep the curtains rolled up and stored behind the seat bases.

Denora, welcome to our group and a great hobby
your vibration could be a Ujoint more than likely,, with the newest car 22 years old
the needle bearings can be bad they just turn to a powder or they could have dried and lock up momentarily . that is the first place to look second is the transmission, the rear bearing could be bad with the drive…[Read more] -

Since the Chevette uses a torque tube drive the rear mount is extra sensitive to being bolted exactly centered. If you’ve had it out and are replacing it, recheck the centering of the u-joint to the rear yoke. You may have to shift it a little, tighten, test drive, move it in or out, tighten, test drive, repeat. If that doesn’t help, check the b…[Read more]

Denora, Click on the search button at the top and type in Chevette drive shaft and you will see some discussion about the problem you describe.
Do you know if the drive shaft has been balanced? Is the rear u-joint centered properly in the rear end? Are both U-joints free of tight spots[not binding] and not sloppy fitting?
Check for excessive p…[Read more] -

The fenders are already black maybe I should have the red body painted white. That was an idea but I thought it would be hard to keep clean. Maybe I should rethink this. Glad to hear regular paint will work. I am not trying to make a show car just a fun little weekend toy.Just got my car home from the shop today they did a tune up a rewired the…[Read more]

Dan & Ed, Thanks for the kind words. I was answering Ringo’s question with my ”lightening fast” one finger typing and you two got in there before I finished.

Larry Murphy replied to the topic BCW Replica in the forum TD Replicas 15 years, 5 months ago
Thanks Ringo. I copied the boot cover that came with my London Roadster. On both my cars, the top stays fully attached when lowered. The boot cover snaps on to the same points that the side curtains attach to on the sides of the body. There is a section of bungie cord about 30 inches long fitted into the hem of the boot cover approximately over…[Read more]

I had fender mirrors at one time, I can see the patch job.
My post cover mount mirrors with the MG dash mirror work well for me, but I also keep my head on a swivel. Looking all around is one of the best reasons to not put the top up.

Beautiful work as always. Your attention to detail always shows.
Best looking cover I’ve seen!
Did you use the original body snaps?

Larry, pga64 and others have it right. The fender mirrors do work IF they are convex.

chuck schmit replied to the topic Rear Suspension in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 5 months ago
I just flipped my tie rods over to be below the arms. Cip1 has the little sleave you need. This corrects the geometry and keeps the tie rods from hitting the body. Also prevents “bump steer” on lowered cars.
