Bill,
Might be a little oily and “smelly” but it’s the same concept. The fluid is temporarily filling the “pores” in the Gel Coat.
I may have to try it though. Heck all I have to do is leave a rag under my wife’s transmission!

James,
I think Mark is specifically talking about large dia. wire wheels being a problem, and he’s absolutely right. The smaller the diameter (like 14″) and the wider the tire, the less likely you are to have tuning and out of round problems. However, major pot holes and running into curb stones can certainly be a much bigger problem for these vs…[Read more] -

The quickest thing I’ve found to work I learned from an old Auto Detailer. Put some automatic transmission fluid on a rag and wipe away. Wipe off the excess and there you have it. Glossy again. Keep in mind that this is only temporary and the dullness will return unless wiped down again. There is no miracle cure for the deterioration of the gel coat.

I had not thought about the tuning of real wires. Good point. I had thought of going real wires, but I need to rethink that. My baskets are looking better to me now. I had heard that the narrow tires will drive you crazy.

Bill/Paul,
You know the LBCar co with the $106 Shell has a contact and phone. Might be worth a call. Maybe he can provide a photo and a reference?

Hey Paul,
You really went to work on this one! Great job!If Bill can’t land a deal on one, it sure won’t be for lack of effort. Again, that’s what makes this Club and Forum great. (Plus the occasional comical anecdotes)

The grill for $160. would just be the center slats.
The rad shell for $500 is 70 miles away, and I have a call into them, and am waiting for an answer from them.
Thanks for all the replies. -

Tires that narrow on these little cars make them a handfull to drive. (Ask the Vintage Racers).
The large diameter spoked wheel doesn’t stay true for long either…the ambient temperature even affects them. (Also straight from Vintage Racers and they drive on pool table smooth tracks).
Something to consider before you attempt a swap. Good luck if…[Read more] -

Years ago, I was stranded when the bolt that holds the timing belt pulley to the auxillary shaft came loose. Easy fix, but what a mess. Rubberneckers had the bypass backed up for 2 exits.

Rob,
Thanks, that confirms my findings. I’m going to stick with End Dust for now because it seems to have a little less oil in it. Sure makes a quick detail easy and painless!

You are right James. That is not a grill for an MG, original or replica. If anyone is interested, those are body parts for a Classic Roadsters Duchess. Judging from the mounting points around the passenger compartment, it looks like they are for a VW.
