Go to page 5 under general discussion ,look at topic ”my wifes too short” for a good batch of information on seat and pedal adjustment possibilites. If the steering wheel is too close or far away you might be able to use a flat wheel or one with more dish to it. hope this helps.

Welcome to the TD Replica forum Dick.
Here’s my experience with these replicas and I’ve had a VW based car, Ford based and now have a Chevette based BCW kit like yours.
Your problem starting at 65 mph (quite brisk for these little cars) is probably a combo of two things, too stiff of suspension coupled with aero lift. That’s right, lift.
At…[Read more] -

Dick; did you check the bushings on the control arms upper and lower.also I think there may me a stabalizer rod on the lower control arm check the bushings in those.Worn ball joints as well as a loose wheel bearing will cause problems.Check sway bar bushings as well if it has one.Uneven tire pressure on the front will cause issues with pulling as…[Read more]

I just had to make the same repair on my newly acquired CR Duchess. I went to Lowes (Home Depot) and picked up a package of “star washers” (have teeth around the inside). You’ll need one with an interior size that is slightly smaller than the square stem. Use a needle nose pliers to push it on to stem and the washer teeth should bend arou…[Read more] -

Hi Dick,
It sounds as if you changed all the major componets. Did you have a front end or 4 wheel alignment done? I don’t know if that will help your problem, but it will not hurt. Thats what I did afer the assembly to be sure the car tracked correctly. Also be sure the rear axel is stable. My car (chevette TD kit) handles well at highway speeds…[Read more] -

Hi there, I’m new to the forum and am in the process of rejuvenating a 1985
BCW Model TD with a 1976 Chevette engine and transmission. I have the
same problem with the transmission. After driving the car at least thirty
minutes, it will not shift into reverse. However, after sitting for 20 to 25
minutes, it works fine. This doesn’t happen all the…[Read more] -

The FiberFab Pinto and Classic Motor Carriages Chevette builder manuals on the “Download Manuals” page have a variety of chassis diagrams, but none that have measurements. It’s a good place to start. But you will have a lot of calculating to do.

Thanks, it’s a front engine. The hood is hinged and the rear looks like a spot for a fuel tank. Now, if I can find some frame dimensions or blueprints I’ll be in business.

Hi Darrel,
Welcome aboard. The TD and Gazelle replicas have a lot in common, so I’m sure you will find some help here. There are a couple other Gazelle owners in the group, although I have not seen any postings form them in recent months.
Perhaps you’ll draw them out of the woodwork!
Probably the easiest way to tell a front engine body from a rear…[Read more] -
