My dad talked to me about purchasing an MG TD car kit when I was a teen back in the 60’s. We never got around to it but I never lost interest. I have 0 knowledge about cars, but he knew lots and had built a car and an airplane as a teen/young man. I have finally purchased a TD built with a late 70s Volkswagen motor. I will take possession soon b…[Read more]

I plan on being there although I’ll probably tow up and place the car in the Race Car pavilion.
With any luck I’ll be able to tow it home.

Re: the beaded insulation board from the inside of the bonnet
Probably installed by a previous owner — the purpose is to separate the hot air side of the engine from the cool side.
It helps to keep the engine run cooler.

I decided to install dual carbs on my Dutches. I got the Empi kit with 34-EPC carbs. As you all figured installing the carbs would require some manicuring of the fiberglass on both sides of the engine. That was accomplished using a reciprocating saw and a Dremel tool. The biggest problem has been getting the dual carb linkage to fit with out…[Read more]

This is a great addition. I watched all the videos of the Ford TD chassis build and was reminded of all the steps I skipped and all the modifications I’ve made over the years.
The links for these should be added to the Library.

Yes, removing the crank pulley should give you enough room. Was easier for me to shape the fiberglass panel.

edward ericson replied to the topic Abarth Exhaust? in the forum General Discussion 1 year, 6 months ago
Not sure what an Abarth style is in this context. If it’s the 4-tip GT style probably not.
We’re free to use any exhaust of course. There’s an EMPI single tip setup that puts the tailpipe in the exact right place for an MG TD. Works fine and relatively quiet. It’s not ideal for horsepower though so if you’re running a hi-po engine consider other…[Read more]

Make sure your Gen light is good. If that bulb fails the whole circuit won’t work. Yes, it’s usually that simple.
To test the new generator, remove the fan belt and give it power from the battery using alligator clips: D+ to + and then – to case and DF (field). A good generator will spin like an electric motor (because it is). If that works,…[Read more]

Alan, I’m sorry that I will be of no help to you. I run a Ford TD. I simply want to express concern that there has been no response to your post from the VW contingent. This is highly unusual.
