If I were you, I’d continue to use the Sedona Red because IMHO the other colors clash and look “wrong.” What you COULD do to set off the instrument panel, however, is to wrap it in plastic chrome molding like this:

That is the exact stuff that I put on the entire perimeter of my dashboard.

I used Minwax oil based stain. After staining yesterday afternoon, I felt the instrument cluster got sort of lost in the main dash. I wanted it to stand out a little more. So I took one of the remaining two clusters (I usually make three just in case) and on the rear face applied three different stain colors. They are Minwax Gunstock, Minwax…[Read more]

Did you use a oil or water based stain? If water based how long did you let it dry before you applied the poly. As the milky discolouration was localized it probably was not the poly. My suspicion is that there was a moisture issue that caused the problem. You should be able to remove the poly with light sanding then if you have a moisture meter…[Read more]

Before I stretched the Spitfire frame, I placed the TD replica body on top to see where the problems were. Very instructive. -

I am making my dash and center instrument cluster. The dash is cut and stained with two coats of stain and the center instrument cluster is cut and stained with three coats. This morning I applied the first coat of polyurethane and let it dry. Went out at 5PM to put the pieces in the shed overnight and noticed that the polyurethane 0n the left…[Read more]

Heh-heh, yeah, or powered by a squirrel wheel. Sometimes seems like mine is anyway.
I don’t think there’s spare wheel venting for mine, solid round panel inside, and the car did well during the summer on 90 degree days too. Oil temp showed up to 230 after 10’s of miles going 70 MPH, usually around 220 to 225 on the highway.
Let idle about…[Read more]

Missed seeing about this until your reply secretagentcat. Yeah, I was wanting a Corvette since 40 years ago. Got to mean something to at least want one.
Just this past January I finally bought a ’77, last year of the flat back window, and first year they were available in black (without a special order anyhow). Mine was and is black but shows s…[Read more]

Hey All
I haven’t chimed in for a while but I couldn’t resist. The Penny Marie is a Duchess also and I’ve never had a problem with heat. I’ve been on the freeway in 90 degree temps going fast and I think I got hotter “and more sunburned” than the car. She’s never overheated on me. I also have the big round hole behind the spare tire but no one…[Read more]
