Okay. New wood purchased for dash. Got the wood at Warner Robins supply. So a quick question/poll. Before installing gauges…sand, stain and polish dash face or sand and cover with black vinyl? How difficult would applying vinyl be? Quick note…I’m not very good with curved surfaces.

I purchased a banjo wheel from Forever Sharp back in June. It was one of their “factory seconds”, meaning it had a flawed finish. It was about 40% off the regular cost; less than $100.The finish was WAY to glossy for me, anyway. So I stripped it back to the bare wood, stained it a flat walnut and buffed it a little.Looks COOL! Easy to install.…[Read more]

The car in the banner photo belongs to @jebarry. It’s a Flat 4 banjo wheel. Here’s a thread on banjo wheels.

Hey Ed,
What a great story — even “greater” since I have met “Sharpy” and her owner.
…story was so well done that I had no choice but to “register” as a user on The City website so I read more “Ed”

As the hinges are aluminum and the pins are likely steel what you may try after driving out the pins is putting the pins in a set of vice grips to put some longtitudal crimps in the shaft. When you reinsert the pins the grooves/crimps should bite into the aluminum hinge. Another option would be to put a spot weld on the pin shaft. You can then…[Read more]

I though of driving out the pins and re-inserting them the correct way but decided against it. The hinges were loose at the pins and the new ones are nice and tight.

There is no indication on the MGmagic web site that they offer left or right hinges Can you drive out the pins so has to reinsert so that you can create a left or right side hinge.
If not you can try calling to find out if they offer left and right hinges -

As stated in an earlier post, I received that dash hinges from MG Magic. However, I checked them out with the old hinges and noticed a discrepancy. Your advice please. The hinges, when facing aft have the head of the hinge pin facing DOWN. When comparing the new hinges with the left door hinges they match (as in hinge pin head facing up.)…[Read more]

Well I plugged the hole in the dash for the voltmeter. I let the plug dry for 48 hours and then its time to drill to fit the voltmeter. Voltmeter is 1/16 inch smaller than planned hole which is no problem as the bezel will cover the slightly larger hole. So I start drilling the dash. Sharp hole saw and medium speed on the drill. So far; so good.…[Read more]

To search the FORUMS, first select FORUMS tab in the tool bar on the top of the page.
On the same line as “Home › Forums“, there is a search box at the right.
Enter your search string in that “search box” and click the SEARCH button.

Jack. I followed your steps for the search engine and it worked very well.
I have the vent tube that ran from the trunk to the canister in the engine compartment from my old Ghia rebuild. Going to run the fuel vent hose to a section of that tubing. Probably will run the tube down through the front and then under the body (clamped to the body…[Read more]

Hey Allen,
I was also having trouble getting the search function to work — but I think I have “cracked the code”
When I searched for “Fuel Tank Vent Line” I got around 25 hits going back to 2010!!
Here’s what I found:
I had to select the FORUMS tab at the top of the page. Then I entered the search string in the “search box” that a…[Read more]

For what it’s worth:
I have uploaded three pics of my “final version” fuel tank vent to my media file – kall, media, photos.
I tapped a 1/8″ brass ell into the highest point of the tank. A vent hose goes to a motorcycle type one way vent (air in as fuel is used) and also to a hose which runs under the frame to the rear of the car. The gas fi…[Read more]
