Same here in the south. While driving with the top down its okay. But in traffic stopped at a traffic light, with the top down you really cook. That’s why a lot of folks locally drive their convertibles with the top up and windows down. Whats bad is the top down with the windows up. 😮

Well guess what showed up today. My new gas tank AND the new hinges from MG Magic. I checked out the hinges and the hinge pins are nice and tight. Infection of the new tank leads me to believe the tank will fit without cutting the filler neck. I’ll have to check it out after supper. Also in comparing the two tanks, the new one looks slightly…[Read more]

Steve, I got a good chuckle out of your belief that we wouldn’t use a top here in Las Vegas. To the contrary, rare would be the day that we would NOT use the top. It’s not a matter of comfort (it’s in the 70s today) or rain (rain? I don’t even have side curtains), it’s a matter of the strength of the sun here. We still get plenty of sun…[Read more]

Thanks all. Especially Bill, whose excellent son hosted and guided and starred in this episode (to a degree I had not anticipated when I sat down to write it). Sportsmanship will out!

It doesn’t look like the first car ever had a top,not that you need one in L.V. The red one would be better year round choice. But again, living in L.V. you wouldn’t need to use the top that often. I think these cars look nice with a top, even if it’s folded down. Both look like nice cars…

Dunno what this guy actually has, but anyone needing parts might want to contact him. For the $600 asking price, I expect you might get a lot of parts: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/5792069690.html
The kit is somewhere in California, but there are currently two (2) TDRs for sale here in Las Vegas — I’ve never seen either one of the…[Read more]

I couldn’t figure out the search function so here goes. What is the routing of the fuel tank vent hose? I know it was mentioned recently but can’t find the search function. Thanks.

Sow’s Ear continued: (fat fingered off the post). Anyway the eBay winning Best Offer wanted to back out when I told him (keep your big mouth shut) it would need a minor weld for the transmission mount nose bracket to the torsion tube, so I just said “Whats your best offer” so I took a $651.00 loss. She’s gone and I’m happy, hope he and his son’s…[Read more]

Speaking of “driving season” I hereby remind everyone that Thursday, November 3, being the anniversary of the death of “Clack,” the more comely of NPR’s “Tappet Bros.,” is The Second Annual Tommy Magliozzi Memorial Drive Your TD Somewhere Day.

As stated above, here’s what unfolded. Tank liner modified and fits very well. Then I added a 3/4 inch wood shim stock under the front end to assure the clearance. Looks really nice. However, while using flashlight to inspect inside of tank I noticed serious rust right behind the fuel pickup. I pulled the tank and checked with a pin punch. Punch…[Read more]
