Hi Beth,
Here is a thread with more info about Design Classics replicas:The quick summary:Design Classics built replicas of the MG-TD and the 1957 Thunderbird in their Minnetonka, Minnesota factory in the early 1980s. Their MG replica was called the… -

I suspect it’s doable, but I also suspect it would not be easy.
The basic body panels would be okay. But the side panels on bodies intended for VW pans all have flanges molded in that match the perimeter contours of the VW pan.“Firewall” and rear body contours also are molded to match the cross section contours of the VW pan.I think you would have… -

Ah memories! Thanks Ed!
All good advice above. Here’s the adjustment direction for your drums:- Right-hand star – turn upward to tighten
- Left-hand star – turn downward to tighten
All the detail here thanks to Rob & Dave’s aircooled pages: http://www.vw-resource.com/adjust1.html -

Welcome to the forum Tom. Seeing this thread I just had an interesting thought, is it possible to take a VW based kit and turn it into a front engine kit buy just swapping the body onto a front engine frame? If so do we have a layout of a buildable frame?

Re: My previous post about fender mirrors- upon further review I have noticed that not all of the fender mirrors I see in pictures of TDrs are equal. Some have a longer stem (no giggling please) which means that the mirror is higher and in my case might actually be visible from the driver’s position. I don’t know if different kit makers used…[Read more]

Sorry for your trouble, John.
How old are your tires? How much air pressure in them? And how hard and unforgiving is your front axle beam?I ask about all these non-brake things because, when I first got Bridget, she had*old tires*with 30 lbs of pressure in front and back, and*full torsion spring packs in the beam. And she wanted to skid. Even going… -

Good ta meet ya, Tom.
Front-engine chassis is a bit of a muddle, I believe. The kit mfgs included crude ladder frames but the dudes who have built them lately have modded or thrown them away and built their own out of 2×3 or 2×4 box.If I was doing it I’d go Ford and lean hard on Billinparts (AKA Bill Ascheman), who built his decades ago and still… -

Vicenc says he’s a lock. Dickk says he’s coming. Also my neighbor, Dan, who runs a 406-small-block powered, fully-caged, mini-tubbed Malibu drag car out of his driveway, where it is parked, uncovered, pretty much all the time. He changed his ring and pinion in the driveway last winter.
I also ordered some steel bar to fab up a couple lift jacks to… -

All the new technology can be challenging. Imagine the poor defense dudes. They’re still using COBOL and 7 inch floppy disks. That’s gotta be a nightmare.I haven’t used COBOL since EARLY in my college days. Ran the program on a TRS-80 system.

Try the “Reference Library” link in the bottom green (topaz?) box to the left. there is a lot of manufacturer info in that area. You may have to look around to find info that applies to your particular car.Welcome to this site and enjoy!
