Update:
It seems most of the speedster guys I usually meet in the DC area for our trip up north are not going this year or only coming up for one or two days. Because of this I think we will alter the course and head up to Carlisle on RT 15 via 234 off of 95 just south of Woodbridge and meet the rest of any possible crew in Frederick Md. for lunch… -

I thought your parts bin was Dave’s Sharpie mobile.

Yes I can tell that would cause back problems. The seats are just laying there, not mounted. I fooled with then a couple hours today and the back of the cushion part is going under the bottom of the back. Had to make some mounting brackets. They aren’t quite right but close enough I know how to make another set now that will work, it’s trial and…[Read more]

I’m thinking of a small trailer for my “car’s on-board spare parts bin”. Not a lot of room with a front engine for much else.

Man! I wish I had seats like that! I posted “Doinger Upholstery” a few months ago. Flat seats covered with leather from an elderly but real nice old leather couch. BEAUTIFUL SEATS!

Welcome aboard! Mine is a Ford also. A 1986 English Ford Escort / Cortina. April 27 16 First of all if it’s hot like it is here in Phoenix Arizona you’ll have to adjust the choke on your carbeurator twice a year for summer and winter. And in order to grease the upper ball joints you have to take the wheel all the way off. Randy / Mr. Bebop 🙂

If you move the bottom of the seat back forward a few inches to line up with the bases, you’d have something really great. If they are installed exactly like the picture, you and your passenger are going to suffer baaaaad back problems.

Module will do it. That was the first thing that got killed. You could also go back to points and condensor, at least for testing. It is the old car person’s tradition, after swapping in the Pertronix, to keep the points kit in the car’s on-board spare parts bin–“just in case.”
Sometimes they do come in handy. -

The seats look good.
Nice thinking outside the box. Did you know they would work, or did you just “wing it” for the fit?Did your car have seats before? How are you going to attach them to the rest of the car?I take it you’re going to finish the rest of the interior in black?Keep sending pics!

My bet is on warped pushrods. Valves won’t open the way they should, so it would run rough and not produce much power…

Don’t forget about gasoline running through the carburetor(s) if a mechanical fuel pump not electric. That would wash into the engine cylinders and oil since no burn is taking place. Could be the worst of it if didn’t actually over rev.(edit: I realize the float(s) should prevent that, no throttle opening, but even idle lets gas through).Yeah, a… - Load More
