Very pretty. Already drilled for the VW pattern? (That’s almost like cheating.) These look exactly like Triumph adapters. I assume that the wheels are standard 48 spoke MG/Tr wheels? If so, you will probably need new wheel lug bolts that have a shorter hex/dome that don’t hit the wire wheel inner basket. If you need a couple of new spokes, R…[Read more]

We’ve had a couple weeks of mild and sunny weather here in Houston, but my Lafer is stuck in the shop awaiting a new clutch cable. My mechanic couldn’t find one to fit, so ordered a shortening kit which will won’t be here for another week or so. Frustrating, to say the least.

Can’t say I’ve ever parked my Lafer in Hollywood, but I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve returned to it while out and about and found people standing around and feasting their eyes. Once, after stopping at Lowe’s for a plumbing part, I came out and encountered two Brazilian women who knew what the car was. One smilingly asked if I’d marry…[Read more]

I’m interested on hearing about the frame-stiffener install too. I’ve been thinking about doing it too.

Oh, I’ve repaired far worse rot, but was typically limited to the battery area.If this were a Bug, it would be far easier to repair. But since the narrower TDr front, from about the front of the door opening, sits inboard of the original mounting flanges, piecing in large sections of pan is not a good option. The remaining metal is so thin in…[Read more]

This is what happens. I filled a bit of B’s frame head rot with JB & scrap steel. Should have bit the bullet & had it welded from the get-go. And you should too.

No offense Paul. The reason I said I may have to buy more POR 15 is because having discovered more holes, I will be using more fiberglass cloth than originally thought, encapsulating it in POR 15 rather than typical fiberglass resin. That will require far more POR 15 than simply applying a protective coating. The repair kit came with only two pints…[Read more]

I’m curious about your intended use of the POR15. I’ve bit my tongue. But not cannot help but ask before you go further.
Please don’t take offense at this. I’m not trying to insult anyone’s intelligence. And it is very possible I am just reading the posts incorrectly. You’ve described holes, rusted through areas and other weak spots in your floor… -
