Kall, You “suspect” accurately. I once stored a TR6 for the winter under a “blue tarp”. It went through several windstorms etc. Ruined the paint job.

That hump is likely just shaped foam rubber and you could pull the upholstery snug on the back board at the top and bottom – but I won’t/can’t guarantee that, since I’ve never even tried to install them. They came with a FiberFab kit, I think.

If you can get to San Diego, CA stop by Kline Bros. VW repair in El Cajon, CA (closer to Lakeside). They have a couple of milk crates full of VW speedo’s and parts for sale CHEAP (along with other crates of other stuff, new engines and tranny and all EMPI and other parts). Over the years (3) I have found them all to be good guys. Be warned: this…[Read more]

This guy can likely repair it for you. I had him restore/rebuild the gauges for my planned dashboard.https://m.facebook.com/NorthGeorgiaSpeedometerKentT2016-01-12 09:00:43

I have the aftermarket speedometer. It’s made by VDO and is 3 1/2 inch across.

Reused the kits upper center strut. Already had the panhard rod installed so all I needed was the two lower links. I just measured and adjusted so the wheels were centered in their fenders and the wheelbase was the same side to side. Quite simple really.

Just think, last year someone smart could have picked up a mechanically new ALL NEW ZERO miles on engine/trans everything else VW MGTD for $1,500! Glad no one jumped on it. I’ll never recoup the $3000 a year storage ($9000 total) but hey it’s ONLY money!

These narrow Roadsters don’t have nearly as tall of sides as their other, larger seats. But, they’re plenty tall enough to keep your butt from sliding around. They don’t have a whole lot of foam padding, but they seem to be quite comfortable since the seat and back surfaces are suspended from the tubular frame. Luckily I have narrow hips, so…[Read more]

So I go this route if I can’t find an ’84 – ’86 SVO T5 and bell housing that already has the cable based clutch? Sounds a lot easier to find, thanks.
One more question, why the three link instead of 4 link parallel arms? I am building a lotus 7 with my son and that is the route we went, along with most everyone else. I have read it is easier to… -

What brand/size? The stock Bug speedos look and work great, especially when paired with a 5-inch tach.

…and from what I remember you car scoots right along like a scalded cat…..a good incentive for me trying to find and install a set of Kadrons as another option (but they are getting real hard to find….)

I will put in a vote for Kadron/Solex duals.
I had one of mine ported for a vacuum advance Dist and in 10 years have not had a single problem other then a dropped out part I lost for awhile when I took them off to fix another problem. They just work and go and go. Can be found often for 100.00 plus a rebuild. If they fit. -

Took a bit of time off from building shelves and pegboard panels (had built a couple workbenches earlier)…
To unbox these, remove the old seats, and do a quick test fit:
At 19″ wide, 26″ deep, and 31″ tall these PRP Roadster suspension racing seats will fit in there nicely. They’re sitting on universal bases from Speedway Motors. These universal…[Read more]
