Wow that looks nice! I’m hoping to do something similar when I rewire the mess behind the dash.
As far as the 2-1 connectors I had picked up a box at Napa Auto and it had a mix of the piggyback and side by side. -

I put a Dorman set in my MGTDr. I bought it from Amazon.I put them only on the seat not the back.I did not know how well they would work and since the seats fold forward I wasn’t sure if it would be a problem. Also since normally if it cold you wear a jacket that would insulate you from the heater. They work great. It was an easy install. In fa…[Read more]

Thanks for that Johnstone lead – I’ll try to locate some of those. I can find the piggybacks locally, but I prefer the others (which VW used) much more if space isn’t an issue. With piggybacks, it is difficult to unplug one wire without unplugging both….

Kent – I jusT went on eBay and typed dual space connectors and picked the ones I needed. Should have looked more because these; also on eBay are better. I think.http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-Piggyback-Quick-Wire-Disconnect-Wire-Connectors-Male-Female-Spade-16-14-GA-/351312381474?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51cbd98622

Very nice work AllenI wish I had built a board like that when I built my Duchess.I mounted the fuse box to the “firewall.” But my relays are simply wired into their respective circuits. When I bundled the wiring under the dash, the relays got tied up in those bundles. Luckily in the 33 years since I built her I have not had any electrical problems.

Nice neat work! Wish the orinal builder had taken that much care with mine. Do you plan on labelling the fuses, once wired?Where are you finding 2>1 spade connectors?KentT2015-02-22 18:34:26

Guys, when I was in my teens, there often would be a “mess” of guys sitting on our very large, covered front porch which sat only about 50 feet off US Rt 17. The contest was to see who correctly named the most cars/models and who first called them as cars came by. I was looking for a Duchess “tell”….but I guess it’s too subtle. For my TDr…[Read more]

Roy, if the unassembled kit I posted about is truly a Duchess, as Paul suggests, the front splashpan and fender area is quite different from my early Fiberfab with the exposed steering shaft. It appears that with that kit the chrome grille shell will simply bolt in, between the fenders. Then, a small flat panel is used between the fenders to…[Read more]

Good stuff Roy.I believe the z-bar engine cover hinges are unique to the Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess. And I was not saying that only the Duchess had the features I listed. I meant that taken together, I believe the car in this auction is a Duchess.

Not a bad idea Dave…but you really can’t rely on that to ID a car.I’d bet many owners swap out the manufacturer’s grill badge for a reproduction MG badge. At least that’s what I did! 😉

Another useful bit of information might be what’s in the medallion at the top of the grill. Some, if not most, copy the original “MG,” whereas others have unique labels, such as the “MP” in the MP Lafer.
