Hi, newbie asking first question and hope this is the correct place to ask. We have had a CMC Classic TD based on a 1963 VW bug for about 5 years. It was assembled by someone in the 1970’s from what I can tell. It has a plaque on firewall identifying it as number M 1040 for what that is worth.
It appears that we have a leaking brake master cy…[Read more]

The sides were made by grinding/routing out the slots, correct? Did you make a jig? -

The hood louvers I had made by a local hot rod shop. I then just grafted the louver panel into the hood. -

Yes, Ed and I both sprung for the Rock Star parking.
Accommodations have been made at the Oceanfront again, also. -

I do have a question for you. Where did you get the big hood vents? -

Sorry to reply so late. I have converted mine yet as I was gathering parts. I now have everything I need except glass for the windshield. I am not sure if building a… -

Ed and Bill – Are you guys doing the rock star parking like we did last time? I will come up if you two are going to be there. If anyone hears from Royal or Happy Jack, please, let them know to contact me. If either one of them is coming, I will meet them in New Bern and convoy up from there.

From this thread it looks like Bill and Ed are going. Anyone else? How about Happy Jack and Roy? I would like to make plans to go but I’d like to know we have a contingent before I drive all the way up from Florida.

Brooklands screens are easy to source but not for $60. Nice score Vicenç.

Vicenç
I missed out on a set of Brooklands at a swap meet 2 years ago. I guy had expressed interest in them with owner but had gone to find his wife. I asked about price and was quoted $50 CDN ($40USD), I offered $60 but owner would not sell until guy returned with wife.
I believe that Moss carries the Brookland wind screens -

Hi David,
It has the fold down windscreens. At some point I would like to put a set of Brooklands behind the windscreen. More pics on the way after I wash and wax this weekend.

Were they built with the fold down windscreens? Have looked at them on Moss Motors for my Sabine but given not all components are available have had to keep the original buggy style windshield. Certaintly looks to be in pristine shape but will reserve final judgement until more pics are posted

Well, I’m ashamed to tell you this and now I can expect some chastisement! When I bought my Fiberfab VW, I knew it had a ton of issues and and replacing the pans was way down the list! (It WAS cheap!) So I took a shortcut that is in the temporary category. The pans had some holes in the seat area, but there was still sufficient good metal. Get th…[Read more]
