More info than you’ll ever want to know about VWs and motor oil is here. And Rob and Dave’s Aircooled web site is awesome for lots of other VW info too!.
Suffice to say, 10W/30 or 10W/40 will be just fine. -

The fender bolts to the body and side cowls. If you remove the gas tank you should be able to get to the nuts. Here’s the fender installation procedure in the assembly manual. Fender installation is on page 27.https://tdreplica.com/Manuals/FiberFab/MiGiII/MiGi_II_VW_1of3.pdf

The black TDr presents well! Even the wide whitewalls look neat on this car.
But I really dislike sellers that don’t bother to learn before they write their ad.“…looks like the $100K real deal….” ????Really? I doubt that. Nobody in their right mind is gonna pay $100,000 for a restored MG TD!Still a nice car! -

We bought a mountain home in Pine, CO. About 40 minutes SW of Denver. It’s all about the grandchildren that live in Denver.

No shroud on mine. Too hard to line up fan with radiator. Gauge reads 200 degrees but a thermometer at upper hose is usually 185. No overheating so far.

Just received my sticker yesterday. Also received a firm date for the moving van that will take us from Maryland to Colorado. Both to happen on May 16th. Trying to figure out how I can spend May 16th supervising the move and then going to Carlisle after house is empty. My wife asked where we can sleep on 16th. Told her I do have a hotel…[Read more]

“Wheel of death” is what the soob swappers call the thing that gives the sensor its signal. It’s just a five-bladed thing you bolt on where the CV meets the axle. I’d like to put it up at the transmission, but maybe there’s no room there. We’ll figure it out.

You need to explain your ” wheel of death”.

edward ericson replied to the topic Soob swap in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years, 5 months ago
I’m gonna give it to Steve. No magnets; just a daisy wheel cut from steel. Should go on the CV joint. The Soob computer needs to see a 5 volt square wave signal for vehicle speed. Without it, the car runs, but tends to stall out at traffic lights. It’s also rev-limited to 4500rpm. This thing, plus the “wheel of death,” supposedly makes everyone happy.

No shroud on mine either. Factory fan, no problems. If you build one, it can’t hurt.

Flip, I don’t have a shroud on mine but I do have a electric fan in front of the radiator along with the fan on the crank. I tried a larger chrome flex fan at one time too, I didn’t like the extra noise. I have a 190* thermostat in her and she runs about 200* according to the gauge. She’s never overheated but I wish I had used a 160* now. …[Read more]
