Ed, I found your link. I guess that you just applied the chrome bead directly to the wood on the face with the chrome tape behind?? It really looks great. But, how has the chrome trim holding up? I expected to find at least a small skirt behind the chrome bead trim.

Ed, I really like your dash and just received some of the chrome trim tape that you referenced. Could you send (or send the link) of the details of how you applied it and also the details on your glove box build, including hinges, and clasp? It’s getting cold enough down here to start on my winter work list. Thanks.

Yes, Allen. Those are stainless shot cups and a stylish hip flask, monogrammed with Bridget’s actual* original** build date as included in the BCW “Gentleman’s Emergency Kit” shipped with all BCWs from the East Acton factory. The full story is here.

Doug, you’ll need to get advice from Ed or some other guru as to whether this would fit, but this guy says that he is “parting out the whole car”:

That’s a nice look Gabe. Ed…are those shot glasses on you glove box door with the flask on the left? 😉

BTW, here’s an example of contrasting piping.

The TD Kent pictured has seats from a TF, I think. Personally I prefer the more distinctive one-back-two-seat look of the stock TD, but like Kent said, whatever turns your crank.
(And real buckets are probably a lot better for those impromptu 250-mile jaunts to Virginia Beach).;) -
KentT replied to the topic Upholstery Lacing in the forum General Discussion 11 years, 10 months ago
How about just a wide strip up the center of the seat back, leaving the seating areas top and bottom as they are? Then add the piping.
Something kind of like this, with a narrower center section on the backrest and the seating areas (bottom and back) wider. Your seats are white and the body red, correct? What about a red strip in the center o… -

Kent. I like the idea in your second photo except for two things. If I went that way I’d have to match the panel with the seat back. The seat cushion has to much red. Second is I don’t have bucket seats. I have separate seat cushions and a single bench seatback. I’m not certain how the large red seatback area would look. Still have time decide. I…[Read more]

I think you’re talking about red “piping” on the seams. If so, I think that will add a really nice touch. Just using red stitching wouldn’t catch your eyes and attention, IMO.
Since they have to take out the current stitching between the panels any way, you may want to consider replacing some of the existing vinyl with a contrasting color, to… -

Very cool, man!
There are apparently a few electric TDs out there. This one is a BCW, just like mine. Sold a couple years ago; he was asking over $9kA white one. Big engine in it. Stats on it are here (I can tell it’s the same car because the interior, and I recognize the Netgain 9-inch motor from the other photo). That motor should push it well… -

I don’t have a VW kit, but if the indicator lamps are tapped into the individual wires running to the right or left lamps, problem solved.

25-30 miles is rather typical of the range on a light weight, lead acid battery powered 72 volt system. But, not all batteries are created equal. I can guarantee you that if he had 12-6 volt golf cart batteries it would go further. But, they weigh a lot more and are physically larger.
My brother “electrocuted” a Yugo this summer. With a 72… -

Everybody I know that has done this (mostly in the TD and Speedster replica world) has removed all the small leaves. The goal here is to soften the suspension for improved ride and handling.
Ride height is a separate issue. As noted earlier, if after removing the small leaves, your ride height is too low, you need to rotate the tubes…BOTH tu… - Load More
