Rene Toussaint replied to the topic Low beam headlight does not work. in the forum General Discussion 1 year ago
Figured it out. When I looked at the fuse block originally, all the glass fuses looked good and they were. I traced the wiring as far as I could. Noticed that the wiring was a certain color for the low beam. Went to the fuse panel again, located which fuse was on that certain color wiring and removed the fuse. Swapped it out for another one. Did…[Read more]

I went with the 4 tip that you suggested, I am very happy with it. I think it delivers a good sound for a pretty cheap price. I showed the old man and he really likes it.
Getting those heater boxes out was tough with the way that the engine and the extra framing sits in my car, I decided to go with the unsafe and risky method of using a sawzaw to…[Read more]

Dale,
This isn’t going to directly answer your question…but…
Shocks should not be used to level a car or adjust ride height. The earlier term for shocks (dampers) is far more descriptive of their sole purpose. They control rebound, when your suspension is compressed.
If the car is not sitting level, there must be some other issue going on.…[Read more]

Brian,
The fuse box in my Duchess was under the dash, on the top left side of the bulkhead.

I emailed you a couple weeks ago, using the email in your profile (I’m an admin, so I can see that info). Did you receive it?

Stephen,
How to describe sound with words… how about enhanced VW? Slightly louder than a stock VW, but a much nicer sound. Certainly not overbearing. Not sure it factors into your equation, but more info better than less … this was on a 1776 VW engine.
Top down, just a nice burble from the rear. Top up, seems the roof acts like a megaphone,…[Read more]

This is an offer to sell a set of fiberglass molds to build an MG TD Airline. The Airline was a special built in the 1930’s on PA and PB chassis. 41 original cars were built so this is a fairly rare but strikingly beautiful car. The parts made in these mold were made to fit an MG TD chassis or any other chassis of the same wheel base. There are…[Read more]

Thanks for your reply. It forced me to look elsewhere for the source of the squeaking. I discovered that the wheel bearings were the problem. They needed to be tightened. Quiet now.

I have a 69/70 VW pan with a 1500 CC motor. I purchased this car about 3 weeks ago. Here is my issue. At times when going up a fairly steep hill in 4th gear with two people in the car, it will kick out of gear. It also happened once while in 3rd gear. I don’t remember it happening when I was alone. Just having the extra weight it does it o…[Read more]

Have you thought about getting a hard start relay? They are really easy to install and they are like 15 bucks.

I have the Muir book, and I found a procedure to adjust my carb on Rob and Daves site. It runs ok once it gets warmed up, but the cold start is miserable. I tried adjusting the choke but it still doesn’t like it when it’s cold. I’ll just keep fiddling with it.

I took it to a repair shop this morning about two hours away south off Boston. The guy who is suppose to work on it just left for vacation and will be gone all next week. Use a very small screwdriver to pry the bezel edge out. Go slow and shallow. After you get about 2/3 around you’ll be able to take it off. Do it carefully; there’s a gasket in there and the face may be glass.
