edward ericson replied to the topic Is buying a car through a dealer auction still a good value? in the forum General Discussion 7 years, 8 months ago
I don’t understand what the dealer’s purpose is in this scenario. He charges $1,000 to make your bid? Why not just go to the auction and buy the car yourself?

There are probably a thousand different answers to this question. And reading between the lines, I think you answered your own question. 🙂
It can be a good value. You can also hugely overpay. (I take no credit for stating the obvious! LOL!)
You need to know reasonable market values for the vehicle you are bidding on; and have a maximum bid in…[Read more]

Hey Bill,
I found the post (Oct 3, 2015) but the links to the various pictures don’t work…???
I assume that you remove the bumper at the chassis and bolt on your tow bar adapter???
…but then again, if I don’t get busy I’ll still be working on bolting fiberglass panels on come May…..

Jack, there is a thread in here of the building of my tow bar setup. Complete with pictures.

Great information — Now I know why fate “forced” me into buying a front engine, Ford-based TDr — so I can build a teardrop trailer and tow it to the beach with my TDr — I’m sure it would be a real head turner, as you all have said —
Ed, you mentioned that these little trailers do not have trailer brakes — why not add them to the trailer and…[Read more]

Hey Bill,
That engine compartment is going to look so awesome that you may want to put plexiglass windows in the hood and floodlights in the engine bay so everyone can admire it…….that would keep you from wearing out the hood hinges opening and closing the hood to show off the “guts and Glory” of the TDr…!!!
Looking forward to seeing…[Read more]

Yup: it’s all so quick and easy.
This is fun, right?
Here’s me spending 50+ hours making a pedal set. Now all I’ve got to do is cut the whole thing out and weld it back in two inches to the left.

A little more progress. Three steps forward, two steps back.
I began installing the pulley kit and alternator bracket kits I bought months ago. I found out that they were incompatible.
I’ll never keep a belt on these pulleys.
Back on the internet. I found an outfit that supplies a complete package for alternator only with a v-belt.
Even…[Read more]

I’ve seen tiny teardrop trailers being towed behind motorcycles. I imagine they’d do well behind our toys also. I think the company is Little Guy trailers and they’re based out of San Diego, CA. It looks like they will tow behind a smart car.

I’m hoping to have a tiny boat trailer with a small Classic Dinghy from West marine. Its very light weight and I’d only be towing it to the local boat launches with The Penny Marie. She’s powered by VW but I think she’ll be okay. I won’t be driving any faster than about 40 mph on flat roads…I think she’d turn even more heads than she does now.
