September 3, 2012 at 5:09 pm #234291$3200 (St. George, UT)1952 MG-TD replicar. Built in 1982 in Brazil on a VW chassis with a VW engine in the back (air-cooled 1600 cc). Only 4,300 built and about 1,000 exported from Brazil! Unique!

September 3, 2012 at 7:18 pm #251716That’s a rough Allison that was ridden hard and put away wet. And used she was, at 60,000 miles. That might be some sort of MG TD replica record!
At least the seller is honest, “project car.”
Would love to know how the fan shroud got so rusty. But my fave is the drip pan under the engine. A sign of an oil leaker!

InactiveCar advertised is a MP LAFER. Doors open different than MG TD. Also has vents on the rear engine cover. Body on them is very solid and fenders and body molded togeather. Fiberglass is also very thick. Friend here local is restoring one.
September 3, 2012 at 8:58 pm #251718Definitely a Lafer.
60k miles is bad? Mine just turned 50k. Seems to be doing OK
September 3, 2012 at 10:16 pm #251719Duh! LAFER! That’s what I meant!
Is it too late to go back and edit my post?

September 3, 2012 at 10:17 pm #251720And it’s not the 60k, it’s the visible condition of the engine, and the oil leak that I don’t like.

September 4, 2012 at 7:51 pm #251721You mean they’re not supposed to leak oil? I thought that was a point of authenticity.
September 4, 2012 at 8:28 pm #251722No. They’re not! 😎

September 4, 2012 at 9:26 pm #251723That’s not an oil leak. Its just sweating horsepower.

September 5, 2012 at 6:31 am #251725VW’s don’t leak oil, they just mark their spot!
September 5, 2012 at 2:21 pm #251726It lookes like a Morgan cross with a TD only if was a +8+ now that would be fun

InactiveSide windows on these have rollup glass. Some were even power assisted. They were a nice car. They also had a lot of wooden trim.September 5, 2012 at 9:55 pm #251728They really are a cut above. I like mine better, but if I’d stumbled into a Lafer in 2009 instead of a BCW I know I’d be a big Lafer partisan right now.
