If you are even a casual fan of motorsports, you know of Carroll Shelby and his accomplishments.

Not to mention, he “inspired” and fought against a huge portion of the kit car/replicar market!

He passed away Thursday evening at the age of 89.

I was lucky enough to race a 289 slab sided Cobra back in the 60’s.  Wish it had been my car, but it belonged to a club that I belonged to.

ONE OF THE BEST CARS I EVER HAD WAS A ’65 MUSTANG, 289 WITH A 600 cfm HOLLEY 3 BARREL ON IT AND A 4 SPEED. I HAD IT 14 YEARS AND WISH I HAD KEPT IT BUT MOVED TO THE BIG CITY WHERE I HAD ONLY ONE PARK PLACE. I ALWAYS DREAMED ABOUT PUTTING UP A COBRA REPLICA BUT GOT OLD TOO FAST. I COULD NEVER AFFORD A SHELBY MODEL BUT HAD A NEW 2004, THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY MODEL WHICH WAS A GOOD CAR AS WELL. I DROVE THE 2012 MUSTANG WHICH IS A FAST HIGH END 6 SPEED.  BUT TO SAVE GAS, NOT MUCH LOW END TORQUE LIKE THE OLD MUSCLE CARS. SO I TOOK THE  FOCUS.

Randy in Chandler Arizona, great B-bopp'in teritory. I must have the only one in the country made by Rich Industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on a 1986 Ford Cortina (english ford escort) It's a 1600cc straight four cylinder front engne, 4 speed, changed from right side driver to left side with several shafts and u-joints. BEBOP because I once had an MGB with license plate MG-BEPOP in Virginia.
