Ed, I do not consider myself a good bodywork/paint guy. But, the best way to make up for lack of light and patience is to have NO paint. I need consistent uniform bright light with NO shadows. None – they’ll screw you up. You (I) can never ever make a paint job better by hurrying.
April 5, 2017 at 9:57 pm #303402Allen: THANK YOU!
Got the front axle nuts today and went out to replace the busted one on Bridget. Can’t thank you enough.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackApril 10, 2017 at 10:10 pm #303456Following Roy’s sage advice I have been working with No Paint. Just a sponge, a bucket and a sheet of 400.
Seems to be working.
I got the wheels bolted on snug (thanks again, Allen) and shot some truck bed liner up under the fenders to cover the ‘glass work and (supposedly) prevent star cracking from rocks and such.

April 16, 2017 at 3:45 pm #303477Well, it’s paint day, boys.
Final primer-sealer coat this afternoon followed by the red stuff. Looks a lot better this time around but of course I got a nasty run on the scuttle and gouged out a wet spot with the sprayer. And a couple spots not yet quite covering.
So it goes.
More on the blog.

April 18, 2017 at 7:51 pm #303486Here’s the first color coat double-blocked with 600 grit. I kinda like this matte finish. All the kids are wrapping their cars to look kinda like this…
So what do you think, boys? Shoot two more coats and clear it? Or just scrub the whole car with a scotchbrite and call it a day?
April 18, 2017 at 9:19 pm #303487Ed, Get a grip!
“All the kids are wrapping their cars “.

After all that work you need to finish it.
