I came across this in the latest issue of Hagerty’s magazine. The website and video are intriguing (and no, I have nothing to do with the product or its manufacturer). Has anyone actually seen it in person?

December 8, 2011 at 8:12 pm #248171I have four furniture dollies that I bought from Harbor Freight quite a few years ago. This is not for daily use, but if you have a nice flat concrete floor and a floor jack, they work great (but are not drive on). Cost about $60 for all 4.
December 8, 2011 at 8:46 pm #248172I have a feeling that this will look like a great idea until they tell me what it costs.

Added by PMossberg, 1,000 pound versions of the above, which are still far more than we need: http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece-vehicle-dollies-67511.h tml
And for those with money to burn, these are the Rolls Royce versions…no floor jack necessary to get the car off the ground:

December 8, 2011 at 11:49 pm #248174Well, is the garage wide enough to push the car to the side? Not mine. I’m looking to either add on or build a new garage to house mine.
December 9, 2011 at 4:24 am #248175These are the ones that I use: http://www.harborfreight.com/movers-dolly-93888.html
They are just furniture dollies and about 1/2 price of the ones made for autos. I found that they work great and I like the extra 5″ clearance that I get under the car. I also can use them inside the house whenever necessary because they are carpeted and flat on top.
December 9, 2011 at 10:04 am #248176Great money saving idea Roy!
The only concern I would have is deformation of the tires. Radials do flat spot. Which is why the car dollies have curved bottoms. And for long term storage it is recommended to put the car on jack stands and take all the weight of the tires.
Have you had any problems with the weight of the car resting on the inboard edges of the dollies’ edges?

December 9, 2011 at 10:48 am #248177I have had no problems at all. I live in NC and the winter weather here is not so bad that I ever leave the car on the dollies for more than a month or two at a time. These inexpensive dollies are very sturdy and no, I have had no problems with the tires taking a “set”. I really didn’t think that flat spots were much of a problem as with the older bias belted tires…..at least it hasn’t seemed that way to me. Putting the car up takes about 3 minutes. You can literally push the car around with one finger.
December 9, 2011 at 5:45 pm #248178I just want edsnova’s garage. Wow 10 to 12 car. I have a 3 car attached and was thinkin about building a 24 x 36 in back sometime, but gee how big is a 10 to 12 car? Bigger is always better, right?
December 9, 2011 at 6:14 pm #248179I’m envious of any of you with a shop or garage. Way easier than a back yard.

December 10, 2011 at 1:56 am #248182Well, they got back to me. Not in full production yet, and when they are the version that would accommodate our TD replicas would run $1,200 — plus shipping.
Scratch that.

December 10, 2011 at 12:11 pm #248184Never ever ever buy a two post lift for use at home.
If you are lucky enough to have the ceiling height and resources for a lift, buy a four post. There’s lots of info out there. Shop carefully.
