Hi – My name is Ric and I joined because this seems to be the best place for advice on MGTD replicas.  I pick up a Chevette powered one tomorrow.  I don’t know who made it or the year built, but it was what I have been looking for for about a year.  It has a 4 speed Saginaw trans.  I want to make a lot of mechanical changes and will be looking for suggestions soon.  For example, how can hubs be converted to 5 bolt Chevy pattern?  What is the best way to upgrade front brakes?  Will the Saginaw transmission bolt up to V6 Chevy engines?  Any adapters?  Thanks.

    Welcome aboard Ric!

There are a bunch of Chevy based TDr owners here.

I’m sure you’ll be getting more advice than you even asked for!

If you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)

Welcome, Ric. I don’t know all about Chevette cpmpatibility bit suspect the drive train of the S10 pickup should light your way. Lots of 60 degree V6s with manual transmissions. I suspect that your existing 4 speed should work.

    Welcome Ric
Glad to meet you! Youll love it here. With all the advice and braine power here were certain to take over the classic car world in no time. Youll meet great friends and be able to spend more time driving your new toy than repairing it. By the way are you on the East or West coast or somewhere in between?

Hey Coco Beach is close to Lakeland and Orlando, where I am from. Welcome to a great web site and bunch of talented folks. You sure will get some good advice to all of your questions. I have a Classic Roadster, Dutchess, which is VW powered. So good luck on your new adventure, these MGTDrs are fun cars.

Got my car about a month after ricrx7 so missed this intro message but had already seen the “registry” map showing a bunch of pins marking central Florida. Via private message I found out my childhood home was merely 1 1/2 miles away, but almost half century apart!

Satellite Beach before that, and the TV show I Dream of Jeannie made for a strange fantasy vs. reality conflict concerning Patrick Air Force Base.

    😀
I’ve only half-tuned my VW engine and still trying to get a leak-free gas tank after working on that all week (off and on), while ricrx7 has managed to do 10X as much! All about abilities, or inabilities in my case. LOL

Dave – When I looked at the map, I was surprised that there are so few MGTD replicas in Florida.  Probably there are lots, but they have not joined the site.  Maybe we can plan an activity this summer.
