    @schu

    All these cars for sale anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000 plus reminds me of my first trip to Carlisle w/ my newly completed TD and one of my son’s who helped build the car.

    I had been walking the parts section and came back to the car and my son told me that a older lady and here husband had come by 2 or 3 times looking to talk to me. I waited around and sure enough the older couple in their ( I would guess ) late 70’s came by and said they just loved my car and wanted to buy it on the spot and how much do I want? I explained that I had just finished it a couple of days before and had spent 7 years on and off w/ my son’s restoring the car and it was not for sale. She explained that she had a newly completed Miata based TF up in the show barn and had spent over 16,000.00 to have it built and wanted a matching TD to go w/ it. I politely declined to sell and she said she was sorry and walked away.
    My plan all along was to give this car to my oldest son at some point as we spent countless hours together restoring the car and I figure it is half his and belongs in his garage some day. I don’t regret not selling but sometimes wonder what her answer would have been if I said – make me an offer.
