    @newkitman

    I have read the assembly manual for my FiberFab TD kit. There is also a CMC FiberFab manual. Both say to use only a VW BEETLE chassis. Not a Super Beetle. After building VWs for 30 years I’m wondering why. The Beetle, Super Beetle, karmann Ghia and VW Thing are all TYPE 1 VWs. Just wondering why they say that. Is it the length of the kit to the wheel base perhaps?

    Thanks for the info.

     Allen, It is because the super beetle used strut front suspension . To use a super beetle pan would require welding an adapter to the front of the pan to attach the beam suspension the regular beetles used.. I don’t think the struts  would fit under the MG fenders.

    Larry hit the nail on the head.

    And not only would the struts not fit, the upper mounts go to the steel VW body. That steel is, um, missing! on our TD replicas!
