Looks like you’ll need a rotary wing rating for the PAL-V. The other one is more of a driving plane than a flying car. Looks like a good performer though.
Here’s another version a dude came up with a few years back. Short take off and landing–he says you could take off from a football field and clear the field goal stanchions–so you don’t need to run it from an airport. Much slower in the air than on the ground, but apparently more practical for backwater areas, which is what it’s designed for. My favorite thing about it is the cloth wing, which would appear to require some set-up. Reminds me, for some reason, of the cloth tops and side curtains in our cars.
