    @storyboy

    I have a Fiberfab MGTD on a 1969 VW. I have only had it a couple of months and I love it! It had been sitting for most of the last 10 years when I bought it so lots of stuff has had to be fixed/changed.

    It did not come with a top. It has the two bows but thats it. Can someone suggest a place to order one? I did contact one site online and they were quick to tell me that their tops “did NOT fit kit cars”.

    I also want to know if a real spare can be attached to the rear by using the the original style MGTD attachment or am I just asking for trouble. I’d love to get rid of the fiberglass bubble that fills the tires space on the back.

    Thanks for the help.

    First, welcome Storyboy.

    For the most part, a standard (i.e. original) MG TD top and side
    curtains will not fit a TD replica.

    You can also try MG Magic. Search the site, you’ll find lot’s of threads with MG Magic’s info.

    You could also go to a boat place and have a top sewn.

    It is possible to mount a real spare on the fiberglass deck. But you need lots of steel support behind the fiberglass. The fiberglass by itself will not be string wnough to support a spare.

    If you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)
